G'day from Northern Australia. I found myself here researching Subaru diesel engine traits, faults etc with a view to using one for experimental aviation usage.  

Any help I can get would be much appreciated. 

Wotcha and welcome - Plenty of experience on here unfortunately when related to diesels it is not good so unless your aviation experiments are related to parachute or ejector seats I might consider another solution. They suffer from several issues bearing failure etc. I do like the subaru brand but they do not do a good diesel solution unfortunately.

But feel free to start a build thread and post questions etc

As above, i would seriously recomend not using one in something that will crash if it packs up.
