Prodrive exhaust & up-pipe query

Morning all,

Just recently purchased a 04' GDA WRX in standard form, apart from a Prodrive exhaust.

Does the Prodrive exhaust come as a back box only or should it be a full system?

I had a look under the car but I'm not 100% sure as to what I'm looking for to confirm.

I've been doing a lot of reading and found out about the up-pipe cat and risk of it being sucked in to the turbo.

Is this something I should swap out even if I plan to keep the car as standard?

Some posts said it only needs changing if you plan to modify for more power. I'm just after some clarity so I know whether or not it needs doing.

Prodrive kit for newage wrx changes the secondary cat for a sports cat think you then get a cat back ecu tinkered and a silicone Y pipe under the intercooler. The secondary cat is directly after the down pipe. Did you get a certificate as proof? The upipe is probably worth doing if your keeping long term cause it will be much cheaper than the damage it would cause if it gives up saying that I had 2 wrx’s with it in place go over 100k miles without breaking suppose depends on how you drive it and how the car runs.

I should have been clearer. It is a Prodrive exhaust ONLY. Not the PPP.

After doing a bit more reading my understanding is that the Bugeye had the up pipe issues, and supposedly the Blobeye was updated and the cat removed from up pipe. Still after confirmation from anyone who has more knowledge than me!

My 2003 WRX has a Prodrive back box and a stainless mid pipe but cats still standard. ECU remapped. Car runs nice. Now done 120k miles.

It was when the wrx went to 2.5 engine that the pre cat in uppipe was was removed. My bugeyes upipe never destroyed itself and it was driven like it had rabies your call with what to do. The sti versions were catless uppipes

Interesting, with your remap do you notice any difference to your MPG? As stock mine is awful, looking at around 265 -280 miles per tank. And I'm tsking it easy 75% of the time.

I had it remapped soon after buying the car. I don't think it did make a difference actually. Commuting it does about 28mpg. On a run down the motorway it will do 33mpg if just cruising at 80 on the clock.
