Help - New Owner - Fuel Gauge

Hi,

 

I have recently (4 days ago) purchased a 99 Turbo S with 43K miles.  I was informed the fuel gauge was temperamental,   Well it doesnt work.  It has moved once when i filled it up but went back below zero pretty much immediately and has stayed there.  From the receipts i can see it did have a new sender unit 5 years (About 10K miles) ago.

Would this have gone again?  Any ideas would be gratefully received.
