THE-TICKMAN
After a long hard search I have finally purchased my first subaru, will be collecting Friday! Now it's time to clear the garage for my new baby. Before I collect it will be having an MOT at no extra cost for any work required if any, now the garage have told me they will be doing an oil change but obviously I want filters doing etc. can I do this myself and where is cheapest to buy? I have a 52 plate wrx sti prodrive. Ryan
Gambit
Oil and filter changes are very easy mate. I'm sure I could do it with out even getting ramps and doing it at the road side it's that easy :) As for Cheap oil try Opie Oils we get club discount with some stuff. And just looking into other place's now to see if we can get other's to join as we speak :)
THE-TICKMAN
Thanks for that bud it's just touched 79k so are we talking oil, fuel and air? Or anything else? Also looking for a service schedule of some sort, is there anything like that on here pal? I've had a quick look on the net but just want confirmation really
Iain-WRX
Hi, Have a look at Eurocarparts.com they are doing 25% off online orders, if you buy 5 ltrs of oil it says you get a free oil filter if this helps?

THE-TICKMAN
Picked up the beauty today and drove home with the biggest smile on my face EVER! My 4 yr old has named her 'daisy the dumper'
Gambit
Hi mate welcome back been a while. And look's like a stunner from the profile picture. But I will have to ask what's daisy the dumper
THE-TICKMAN
Haha to be honest even I don't know mate but my daughter has named her daisy. I'm guessing the dumper bit is because of the pshhhh she gives off from the bailey ;)
Gambit
Well Kudos to her know what a dumper is :D I thought you was going to say it's something off Cbeebies :D
THE-TICKMAN
:) she has been taught well my friend! Just out of interest I'm considering purchasing a turbo back exhaust but how much would it hurt the wallet? Anyone have any rough ideas I'm guessing id need a remap too?
Gambit
Same what I have it's not cheap and yes a remap would be advised to bypass the sensors. But there is way's around that too so you could do it in stages. But you will have to remember the MOT side of thing's. But if you have a good guy who does your's it's not a problem :D
THE-TICKMAN
Sounds like I have some saving to do then! She has a prodrive on at the mo so it'll do me for a while :) cheers bud
Gambit
No worry's what other plans if any do you have now :)
THE-TICKMAN
Just subtle things like a turbo timer, couple of gauges, new mats. The main bit will be the exhaust and remap plus dyno :)
Gambit
Well I will admit my 1st mod for my car was Subaru Dust cap's Haha I'd bought them before I'd even got the car ;) Least your 1st list sounds better then mine. THE-TICKMAN
I need to top up my engine coolant, do I need to drain the old coolant first? Also is there a specific type needed?
Gambit
Just to top up should be fine without the need to drain it, when I just do a top up I don't really use any brand make just what ever anti freeze is in the garage :D
Miggs
nice looking motor, welcome to the paddock, the antifreeze that's recommended is i believe G30, brand wise i don't think it matters it's just the ingredients and the amount of them that's important for the alloy, this is what i was told a few years back regarding another car, alwys go off what the dealer says and i was told that the dealer says G30
