nictriumph Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 i know what is.....EGR control valve and pipe going to head from manifold can the replacement engine be converted to take egr pipe? what size is it and what drill bit size would i need? thanks nic
nictriumph Posted April 12, 2022 Author Posted April 12, 2022 replacement engine now sorted,,,drilled out in stages,8mm all the way thru and tap m20 thread down 17mm deep...just need to change over induction system
nictriumph Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 engine in car and running very well,,,no knocking, mint 😀....but do have minor water leak coming from hard pipe going to lower matrix inlet.i do have one from other engine to replace it 2
nictriumph Posted April 24, 2022 Author Posted April 24, 2022 fixed hard water pipe,no more leaking coolant, owner is very very happy.engine sits nicely at 650rpm ish, very smooth and responsive....engine swap done.hopefully back on mine soon 😀 2
nictriumph Posted April 27, 2022 Author Posted April 27, 2022 started to have a look at old engine,,front left piston knocking from big end bearings, this is the only piston thats has the knock.......fingers crossed it has not touched the crank, hopefully its all good
nictriumph Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 well ive split the engine and front left piston bearing shells are gone,so full set of con rod bearings are needed,,,,not sure about the crank bearings....heres a few pictures of crank bearings....any ideas if they are still good to use? there was no play in crank before strip down
savage bulldogs Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 I'd measure up the journals and see if they're in factory spec , If so I think a new set of stock shells are under £100 . Would be a shame to spend £1k+ on gaskets and a timing belt kit , just to end up with crank rumble 1 1
nictriumph Posted May 2, 2022 Author Posted May 2, 2022 think your right there, after a good clean they look worse, will look out for new shells and conrod bearings...but will be put on back burner 1
