Hi all!

hello all :)

just bought myself a sorry excuse for a 2000w Impreza UK turbo! mechanically it's totally sound & comes with a pretty large folder full of bills. The only part that needs replacing is the rad as it's quite badly corroded on 1 of the bottom corners & is starting to weap slightly

Basically the previous owner hit a kerb which damaged the nearside front alloy & bottom arm. It was taken to a local garage where i know the owner. Which is where i go for jobs i don't do like clutches, timing belts etc.

Shortly after he crashed it he then had a bike accident so the Impreza has been sat at the garage gathering dust for the last 6 months. The garage ended up buying it off of him with the intention to repair it, clean it up then sell it on.

They've already replaced the bottom arm & put on the spare wheel so i could take it for drive. Anyway, i did & now i'm picking it up on Monday.

Apart from the rad everything that needs doing is cosmetic. The rear bumper is quite loose, it all needs a good polish & the interior stinks foisty, there's mold on the seatbelts, a bit on some of dash vents & a small amount on the seats.

Will be a good project for me & for what i paid for it i don't mind putting a a few hundred quid into it!

Anyways, i've already got a question so will pop along top the relevant section

Wotcha and welcome Craig thumbs.gif

sounds like you have something that could provide real returns with a little TLC - get a project thread going and we can all follow, lend support etc

hi mate

i've already bought another set of alloys. At the moment it's got the standard 16" 6 spokes fitted, which i really don't like the look of. I'm really not fussed about going for 18s etc at the mo & didn't mind the standard 16" 5 spokes i had on the UK turbo i had before so bought a set of those for £80. They're in better nick than the 6 spokes as well so just need to get my mate to swap the tyres over for me

yes, will definitely get some before & after pics. Ideally i woukd've prefered just to buy 1 that was mint in the 1st place but the Mrs put that idea in the bin. As we already have a diesel family car & my van she said I was n'tspending a few thousand from my savings on a 3rd car for me to use a couple of times per week.

I can see her point as we have got a 3 month old boy & she's still on maternity leave so i'm the only 1 earning. Although she didn't mind me buying a shed as a project if it was cheap to start with. Anyways, i have it now so time to get this project started! :D

So far i've bought a set of alloys, new radiator, STi intercooler, a new remote fob & full filter service kit, well, apart from the air filter as want to check in the airbox to see if an aftermarket filter is fitted. If it's standard then i'm going to order  Green panel filter.

Also going to sort myself a spare key as it's only got 1. Which is something else i can do as i do car key cutting & programming as part of my business ;)

And congratulations on the new born I have 3 kids myself I often look back and think what the hell was I doing :D

And I never see my Mrs's point as it always works out that I'm wrong and she's right :D

My Mrs never used to mind if i spent on cars. I've had a UK turbo before, as well as 236bhp mk2 CRX VTEC, a 360bhp Evo V & a 250bhp GTV 3.0 V6. Had plenty of others as well but didn't really spend that much on those.

It's only because i'm the only 1 working that she didn't want me to spend a lot. I have also just bought a 2000x Puma with the intention to repair & sell on. Was an MOT failure, needs some welding, both front wisbones & track rod ends to get it through the test. Got all the parts already & have also given it a full service.

Will be a good little car when done, i know they're far from fast/powerful but they do handle quite well & are fun to drive. It's a rare 1 owner from new car as well. Ford history up to 66k then serviced by the owners mate from then up to 92k. Only done 1k since last MOT when timing belt kit, front discs, pads & caliper were done at the same time. Really tidy inside.

Anyways, going to go outside while it's dry, bright & i can get some pics

Oh & yeh, i'll have a look for the key thread

Nice I drove a Puma just the 1.7i for a short while and was a fun little car, had a few Focus's ST170. Wishbones on all fords seem crap. I remember having to have one changed on an escort along time ago now :)

I had a quick look for the thread but sort of busy myself at the mo, so will take another look in a bit I'm sure its in the legacy threads

Nope it was the Forester :)

Not sure if you can help the chap out or not might even bring you a bit of business :)
