He from my neck of the woods in Lincoln :)

I do go through to Martins worth the travel top guy and trustworthy and very knowledgeable. As matt said I would give it a flush out and see how it goes.

And I'm jealous now I love the RB320 I want one :)

I can almost guarantee thats head gaskets. The little copper flakes are a sign that a previous owner knew about it and threw some of that head gasket fixer stuff in to it.

That stuff is only ever a quick and short term fix. (believe it or not, Subaru in Europe actually sell and endorse the stuff).

If its still under warranty, they should sort that out, but make absolutely sure they skim the heads when they are off, otherwise the problem will return.

To be honest I'm pretty sure it is HG myself. Going in to a subaru specialist Tuesday to have it diagnosed in writing with rectification price etc then I'm going to take this back with me to the garage was purchased from as still got some warranty on it. I just didn't want to go to them first to be forbed off until out of warranty then on my own. Due to a few issues with car dealers in the past have much faith in them hence why getting looked at by specialist first.

Cheers for feedback though chaps

Good move I think mate least you will be armed with ammo to approach them with, as you say least then they can't try and tick the warrenty down. Shame too I love the RB320's

But just so you know Tlag and his son build and repair Subaru engines as a living. and would say he's spot on with everything he said about someone knowing about it before and adding stuff to it :(

:(

Feel for you mate as Jay said just hope it all goes well without to much problem. I mean very nice cars great in fact when they are running fine :(

And thanks be grateful for any updates. And welcome just to pop on and join in with the random banter here in the mean time so don't feel you need to be a stranger. And all being well be sorted soon for the Japfests ;)

Nightmare - the only positive thing I can think of to say is that, as with Ash and his lump, once it is sorted you know you now have a good solid point from which to keep maintaining and have peace of mind.

sorry its going be a bit of a poo sandwich in the interim :(

if you do get the work done under the warranty i would ask them for the parts they removed from the car as proof they have done it rather than just a quick fix stuff, i have had a head gasket issue lately and as a quick fix till i get another car i bought a bottle of steel seal, it's worked a treat so far and did what it claimed to do, i would like to say next year it will still be the same story but as i said it was just to get me running till i get another car, when i bought the stuff i asked what kind of feedback they had from it and they said mainly car garages buy it to put into customers cars, i think they will probably charge a customer a few hundred for a new head gasket and skim when infact they have just poured a £35 bottle of liquid in the car

hope all goes well for you mate, never good when you've just got the car, had that once in a car i bought, did 30.3 miles before i had to get a new engine

Steel seal is just a clear slushy looking substance on the header tank cap, rad weld is a red fibrous type stuff and I think it's K seal that's copper coloured, I've tried a few in mine last year but nothing worked till I used steel seal, still going now head gasket wise, as died yesterday but I'm pretty sure that's nothing to do with hg

Who me? No non yet, got my eye on a sweet white UK loon with a sunroof, up for 2.5k and sent the guy an email asking if I was to supply parts like wheels and other bits and bats would he knock the price down any, trying to cover all avenues for a little payout, anyway he sent an email back with 2 phone numbers on, not a call me, please or thanks anywhere, really annoys me that, doesn't take 2 second to write a small sentence, I'm reluctant to do any dealings with him now on principle of his ignorance to potential buyer, I do want it bad though, I also have a woman on the estate that has a V3 look in white and I know she's stopped driving it but still has it on the drive, I'm tempted to go see if she wants to sell it

Yeah was talking to you :)

And I get like that, even a thanks for your interest wouldn't have hurt. But I guess if he is willing to do a deal might be worth just following it up he might just think you are wasting his time so just gave you numbers to see what happens. And again I would just a tap on the door can't hurt really can it :D
