A mate has just suffered ringland failure and was wondering if hew cant Subaru UK to sort it Free of Charge or wiull he have get this sorted himself?

The car is Standard and a genuine Type UK.

Prob depends on age and servicing mate

I'm glad you said that at the start Pete had me worried for a second there

I think the biggest thing is how long has he had it for, and then as matt said service. :( sorry to hear about your mates car though. Never good to hear of a scoob WIA  :(

Several people have had it done under warranty but it did depend on service history being complete etc - did he have the ECU update completed?

I would think that unless is has an absolute cast iron subaru service history, they won't want to know. Hope I'm wrong.

if its official PPP it should have had the map sorted as part of it and the parameters would have been changed so surprised it failed

Don't think it will matter if it has the PPP they will use everything they can to try not do it, I'd say the only hope is the service. But you never know until you try :) might get lucky hope your mate gets it sorted out though.
