Jdmkass
Hi all I'm new to all this forum stuff so take it easy on me. Just bought my first scoob after saving for several years, absolutely loving it but like most cars it has its issues. I'm fairly competent with my tools and live getting my hands dirty. I own a jdm wrx completely standard on a 1995. Got a couple issues that I'm nearly at the end of my teather with. If someone could point me in the right direction as where to find the info needed that would be much appreciated. Also is there any specialist around my area I live in Suffolk

Jdmkass
Right Basically Im getting really bad and temperamental flat spots As soon as I got the car I gave it a full service, oil, filters, plug's,belts I've checked for obvious air leak's Removed and cleaned the boost solinoid and the waste gate actuator replaced the maf still no joy. now if I gently apply the power it boosts fine and smooth but as soon as I plant it I get really bad flat spots. sometimes There that bad the whole car dies. I'm getting to the point I don't know what else to try might even have to take to a garage and I hate being defeated. I was thinking maybe tps but not sure. Jdmkass
No eml or cel lights unless you manually have to check

Tlag
Hi and welcome. Ignore the CEL. Check for codes manually. It's the only way to be sure and sometimes, the CEL blinks for a fraction of a second and it's easy to miss it. Only yesterday I had a running issue with my Legacy and no CEL. Checked for codes and got 23. (MAF). Always worth checking codes first. It could be a number of things from your description.
BoozyDave
hi mate welcome to the club check for codes manually, it will probably be something minor that has been overlooked

Jdmkass
Ok so I have run the car through the factory dino and it's come back clear no codes !!
Scooby Pete
Could be a dodgey coil pack? Take them off remove the rubber sleeve and check for cracks and signs of damage. My classic had been running bad and I tried all the usual stuff. It was coil packs in the end.
Jdmkass
Yeah I did notice when I changed the plugs (pig of a job) That one of them was split but didn't think that would effect it.
Scooby Pete
That could be the issue, the coil pack can arc to the head causing the misfire. Swap that out and I reckon it will cure the problem.
