Opinions on best cone filter/induction kit as the one that came with the car is poo. I understand we are to avoid the oiled ones also

that's pretty much it - a named brand - pipercross etc will give you a quality product but the cone filter on its own doesn't do a great deal - you may need to look at the inter-cooler pipe also if you fond no improvement once you change it

Never had any issues with my blitz cone filter,its pretty massive and you can hear it sucking :)

I use a K&N Apollo in one and a panel filter in the other. I quite like the K&N stuff but all the above are good brands :) 

And you're right avoid oil ones unless you have the MAFS removed with a remap :) 

K&n works really well, if its a classic and you can find one the apexi also works well. Hks mushroom when mapped in does produce good power but it doesnt filter fine particles very well.
