Used to have a MK1 Focus ST170 for 2 years, sold that, bought a 1989 MX5 for a cheap toy, had it for a couple of months, then got my Scooby :) It's an 04 blobeye WRX, I've had it for about 6 weeks and I'm loving it :) Plan on a few subtle mods but won't be starting them for a while. I know both the cars in the garage I spent days maybe weeks looking for the right ones. RobC92 Posted July 3, 2014 Author Share Posted July 3, 2014 Thanks for the comments guys :) First thing I want to do is change the WRX spoiler for an STi one. I know that to fit a genuine one I'd need to drill holes in my WRX bootlid (which I don't want to do) or get the STi spoiler complete with bootlid. Both options are pretty expensive.. But I've seen a place on eBay that sells replica ones that fit straight on the WRX bootlid. Anyone have one/ know if they're any good? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=251557325002 Also want to get the wheels refurbed as they could do with it, might get them done black. I like the look of the fog light covers too. Then things like exhaust, remap, blow off valve.. Fast noisy stuff. For the exhaust I just want a nice Subaru burble and to make a bit of noise when I feel like it, nothing too loud at idle that's gonna wind the neighbours up. Would just changing the back box be enough? Something like a Prodrive one or would that not make much difference? If not, anyone have any cat back recommendations? Gambit Posted July 3, 2014 Share Posted July 3, 2014 No worries mate what it's all about being in a club asking questions and joining in :) The STI spoiler I got one like what you have said about fitted fine for me no problem at all. Only problem I did find is the brake light once the bulbs go it's not a straight swap replacement had to buy some other stuff and make my own up, but does a knight rider type light now when you brake :) Have a look for other alloys Johnnyb was selling some nice 18" ones with tyres not long ago cheap but they have sold :( Might be cheaper and look better than getting them refurbed. The Fogs I agree look loads better just be careful though Nick had his pinched they just clip off so unless you can secure them on or take them off over night they could go missing and not cheap to replace :( With the Exhaust always worth checking youtube videos get an idea on the sounds. Some can come with bungs that keep them silent and then take it out for the full roar :) We have an excellent breaker on here from Huddersfield as well who will be worth trying for some parts. And a bunch of other companies that are joining that offer S.O.C members discount. BoozyDave Posted July 3, 2014 Share Posted July 3, 2014 the sti spoiler will fit straight on, but there are more fixings you can use if you don't mind drilling the boot. i fitted my sti spoiler a year ago just using the wrx fixing points and not had a problem. you will need the stronger boot torsion bars too, otherwise it will be heavy to open the boot :) a prodrive back box won't be much louder, have a look for a cat back system. 2.5" is the std size, it should unleash some of the growl if you get a deresonated centre section, or go for a 3" if you want it louder be careful with the dump valve, some can cause running issues ;) 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I went for a second hand WR Sport back box (oval version of the Prodrive for standard WRXs) which was a optional extra new. At first I thought it was too loud but I love it. It brings out a beautiful burble but isn't uncomfortable on my 100mile daily trip on the M25 and the 600 mile round trip to the outlaws upt-north. Some new 18s could be an idea actually if a nice set comes around I noticed the fog covers aren't cheap, and I hadn't thought about how easy they could be to get pinched, that sucks :( Had a look/ listen to a few vids on YouTube and I'm liking the sound of a Milltek system, not too loud but a nice distinctive Scooby sound. But not set on it yet so will check out others including the WR Sport back box, cheers. I was after an ice blue one that came up on eBay a while back for a really good price and not surprisingly it sold within minutes haha. Don't see too many in that colour and I think they look awesome. BoozyDave Posted July 4, 2014 Share Posted July 4, 2014 I've had 2 fibreglass copy spoilers and both have had the same problem, they crack and let water in :( from a breaker you should be able to get a genuine spoiler in the correct colour, with stronger spring's thrown in, for £300 how much for a replica? £150? plus paint. £100? then get hold of the stronger springs. not much cheaper for a much inferior item ;)I paid £200 for my genuine one from a breaker, because it was black (a 'less' desirable colour) it was cheaper (and matched my car :D ). so you could get a black genuine one for £200 and spray it yourself 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'd say the painter might have not done that good a job if it was cracking mate :( . The only reason I know it's not real is because of the light. And the plug that came with it just plugged straight on, didn't need to do any wiring plug and play. Took me longer to clean the grime from under the old WRX spoiler on the boot lid :D For the resale value you might get £300 to £350 for a genuine one. But I've seen the non genuine ones go for near on £300 in used but good condition. But they are brand new Michelin pilot sports. £350 Ono. Had them on mine for a month speedo didn't seem out any more than usual!
