Help buying a subaru!!

Hi everyone I'm currently looking at buying a v5-v6 impreza i've always wanted one and i like to think i'm pretty good with a pair of spanners but being unfamiliar with subaru and their boxer lay-out i just wanted to ask a few questions hopefully a few people know a bit about. 

 

.Do the classic imprezas (v5-v6) have any common faults to look out for? 

.How often is the cam belt in need of replacing?

.what power are the standard internals good for? either red top or normal one?

 

I'm going to look at a subaru soon and i want to be knowledged up on the main things to look out for, any help will be appreciated Cheers .

Uk / Wrx can take about 350 bhp

Sti can take a tad more on the gearbox

Common faults are rust and rot around the arches and inner wings , cambelt is about every 40/50k I think but I do mine every 2 years ( and I only do 1k a year in it )

Badly modified and abused models are easy to spot

If getting a import check its been mapped for uk fuel

I'm currently looking at one v6 impreza it's got a print out of 340bhp (apparently) td05, uprated injectors, fuel pump ect but i asked him to send me a vid and it seems to have flat spots maybe a boos issue or fuelling issue? Any idea if it could be a big problem? i've driven a scoob before and it was the same but alot worse (juddering as it accelerated) He says it's got switch able boosts levels, maybe not been mapped right?

What ecu has it got ? Who remapped it is crucial if it's modded

Uk model ?

Says it's got a Altek ecu and not sure who mapped it. I've done abit of research and few people have mentioned about v6 subaru's stutter and juddering under boost. Maybe plugs?
