Hi all,   

On my SH, when the sunroof is closed and the blind is pulled back I get a load of wind noise when driving, anyone else's car do this? 

Its nice and quiet with the blind fully forward - seems a strange one this....I can live with it but just wondered if anyone has a fix?

Mine is still nice and cold after 8 months of ownership - it does warm up a bit after a while if its on all the time ...., I don't know if it should do that or not.

I just keep turning it on for a few minutes for a cold blast now and again, it seems to stay cold that way.   

So I guess it's been constant for 8 months at least.

From what I can gather - you'll only find low range on non-turbo manual cars.  

I dont know if this would be good or bad for you but a 4 speed auto like mine will creep up to around 5mph + when driving from standstill on the flat without touching the accelerator pedal so sometimes I'm on the brakes before even touching the gas pedal.

Another point is that the car travels far too fast in 1st downhill (not using brakes) - so when the snow comes low range would have been ideal but there we go.

I bought more or less the first Forester that I came across in December (I'm nuts like that but its how I work) - 2008 2.0 XS petrol, spent about a grand on it for four decent tyres, cam belt change and a service - its never let me down and skips along where ever I need to go ....my very comfy van with occasional rear seats 🙂  

Maybe there's a chipped or broken tooth on the crank cog that the sensor reads ...might be worth checking, doubt that would throw a code as in your problem.

Yep...I guess you'd have a blinking LED if an alarm was fitted - hope your dad enjoys his Forester 🙂 

Foresters have been factory fitted with alarms since 2001- unless privately imported, maybe your WRX was privately imported to not have one.

Think its called "Information reminder light" if you google it something should pop up 🙂 

Sounds like a radiator problem to me ...not a quick enough flow through - so noticeable temp increase at motorway speed .

On one of my threads I was told that original Subaru water pumps are very well built and last 150K miles plus.... so I'd check the radiator next    

I don't know why any family car manufacturer would program their cars to only unlock the drivers door when the rest of the family has to be let in from the inside - and not provide an easy way to switch it around on all of their models ....when today's modern cars are designed with so many features of convenience.

Anyway hope your dealer sorts it.

Can you do this ...Forester is explained here. 

(1) If you have a genuine subaru sat nav fitted you can turn auto locking on / off  / change delay time settings / via the monitor - if not then a Subaru dealer can do it (from my 08 manual ) maybe its changed now but check your sat nav manual if you have one.

(2) All the doors should open when you press the remote unlock twice within 5 seconds - they do on mine anyway.

Hi Disco - I'll message you with the keypad location - yours is probably the same Sigma system but not sure.

If you look in the folder that the owners manual comes in ... there should be another instruction booklet about the alarm system, your pin number should be in there, mine is on two shiny stickers. 

Had my first experience with the alarm last night ...doors unlocked ok with the fob but the alarm went off when I pressed the start button, both remote fobs have new batteries but neither would turn it off..... had to keep my nerve with the curtains twitching along the street - eventually found the pin number and the keypad accepted it . Looks like I have a bit of reading to do about the alarm system 🙂

lovely cars by the way ...just been through my service bills from previous owners - apart from general consumables the only expensive parts needed were shockers and springs.

If you get a petrol expect to change the timing belt at or before 66K miles - or try and find one with this already done - diesels have a timing chain.  

Guessing its a late SH model like in my pic? and a diesel? ...if so have a read of the thread titled "Rebuild or replace my engine" - made me thankful that I'd bought a petrol anyway ...I dont know anymore than what is in the thread but its worth a read and to ask a few questions before you buy. 

Yep very happy with the Forester Mr B,

its everything that I need in a car - runs lovely on the Michelins,  what a difference they've made.

Getting there now ...got the cam belt changed along with idlers and tensioner (thanks again Mr B)

Four Michelin Latitude Cross tyres now fitted (10% off with Black Circles) - the fronts were down to the markers and the rears were cracked between the treads plus the fronts were totally different tyres to the rear ones.

Found the headlight cap that I dropped into the depths of the engine bay.

Had a disaster with the top hose - someone had fitted one that was far too long and was eventually cut into by the fan blade 17 miles from home.... now sorted

Bought some used Forester letters on e bay to stick on the tailgate...been cleaning them up to stick on tomorrow..... I like doing the tiny stuff lol.

Last year I ripped a wiper blade when it was frozen onto the windscreen, I had no replacement handy so I tried glueing it back together with inner tube glue - worked great until I got another one🙂

Just a tip if anyone is stuck for a wiper
