Hi mate Welcome to the club

even if the type R is in average condition it will be worth more than a WRX, deffo worth considering. It will be a harder, more raw ride and more focused drive. Not sure if they make good daily drivers though

Turbo and injectors
BoozyDave replied to aucky's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
the std fuel pump is 255L, so I would only replace due to age/ware (for the sake of £40 it's worth doing). The fuel pressure reg is what controls how much fuel 'could' be put into injectors. Duty cycle dictates how long the injectors are open, the fuel pressure can increase how much goes in. max duty cycle is about 98%, std fuel pressure is about 3 BAR. if you can increase fuel pressure to 4 BAR the duty cycle drops I've got a spare fuel pressure reg if you need one -

I had to go down a couple of times when I was arranging 'Remembering Richard' Richard Burns memorial day back in 2010. Jackie gave me a guided tour around the workshops, can't believe how clean they were Can't believe Richard Burns died nearly 10 years ago (25th November) -
Hi mate Welcome to the club always warm up before giving it beans (to warm up properly just drive steady and up to 3k rpm, this warms up all parts. Some say to start it up and leave it running for 10 mins to warm up, but that only makes the engine hot, it doesn't warm up the brakes/tyres/turbo.) think of a footballer warming up, do they sit in an electric blanket to warm up, or do they move around/stretch and jog to warm up all their body and muscles? always use 'super' fuel, preferably 99 ron (shell nitro or tesco momentum)

Hi mate Welcome to the club, glad you finally got around to introducing yourself Have you been to the old prodrive plant? I've been down a few times -
how much did you pay? how much do you think you can get as is? if you are going to sell and lose £3k, why not just do an engine swap for £1k, then sell on for what you paid for it. you would only be £1k down then, not 3

I have 'rally armor' flaps and they don't have the metal brackets, just 4 screws and washers I think the metal is to stop the flaps 'flapping' when you drive, but like tidgy said, if you catch them they'll pull your bumper off

£350 robbing bar stewards have a look at the offset on your wheels now, if they are et48 the et55 offset will stick out 7mm further and may catch on the wheel arch

I was really annoyed last week when I came home and found the the wife had paid a joiner to put some shelves up in the living room. She then went on to rant about how she had been waiting for me to put them up since we got married and, as I hadn't done it after five years, she felt quite entitled to pay a professional to do it. While I can see her point, I have since found out to my cost that paying a hooker for bum s*x apparently does not fit into the same logic.

Some guy knocked on my door today and said, "I have a parcel for your next door neighbour." I said, "well, you've got the wrong house then, mate."

I've just had a look on scoobynet, there's a 2.5 wrx engine that was rebuilt by scoobyclinic 16k ago, only £1,500 http://www.scoobynet.com/full-cars-breaking-for-spares-449/1017183-hawkeye-wrx-breaking-black.html if you sell as is, you will be lucky to get £3k for it, whoever buys it knows they will have to spend £3k + to get it running again.

Turbo and injectors
BoozyDave replied to aucky's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
the blue ones are 380's (classic), 420's (newage) and 560's in the hatch not sure if the vf35 is the best turbo for the 2.5, maybe the vf43 from the 2.5 STI or td05 18 or 20g would be better suited, should be good for 340-350 bhp -
sorry to hear you will have to sort it out yourself shame you can get a warranty in place or join AA breakdown repair cover (they pay the first £500 towards repair). if you can get a warranty, delete this thread lol

Thought I'd update the thread. Facebook clip has had 1,000,000 views a MILLION!!!! and over 6,000 comments, mostly saying he's a knob Claim is still going through, just waiting for a settlement figure for my days off work, shouldn't be long now

you have got a chance with a claim, if you ask any question about the car and the seller withholds information you have got grounds for a claim now listen - if your son asked 'have you had any issues with over heating?' and 'is the head gasket ok?' you can raise a small claim case because the car overheated on the journey home and the cause was possibly the head gasket. obviously the seller knew the head gasket had gone and was off loading the car, if your son asked the above questions and the seller said 'it's all sound bruv' then you have a claim. the car was not fit for purpose and should have been sold as spares or repair. it will cost you £3k for a new engine, it's got to be worth £100 to take it to the small claims court
