Buttertubs Pass Run
thehulkster699 replied to mfnick's topic in Yorkshire & The Humber Regional Meets
Gutted to find I missed the recent Whitby run (although I would have had to come in the RS as I've no longer got my Subaru) Might toddle along to this, as I live right on the doorstep of the Buttertubs. -
New Focus RS mk3 to be unveiled on the 3rd March!
thehulkster699 replied to thehulkster699's topic in Junk Room
There a pic on Facebook today by RS Direct of a dark grey colour......looks fab to me. Has anyone else seen it, and is that the stealth grey option? Reminds me of the Focus St170 grey......? https://www.facebook.com/focusRSuk/photos/a.387151191311277.113223.166991939993871/1070684589624597/?type=1&theater I couldn't go white again, the blue would just remind me of the terrible mistake I made on that new Subaru Sti last year, black would be nice but hard to maintain where I live, so that grey would be the one for me I think......? -

Has the 2015 Sti lost its Evo gurn yet? -
All the reports say it will be AWD.......will it be better than the Golf R? It's gone CRAZY over on the FocusRSOC forum........although there is quite a lot of unease about the fact that this RS will be a global car made in massive numbers......does it devalue the brand? Anyway, here is the teaser vid just released. Please note...these are the development "mule" cars and won't look like the final car........we all hope! https://m.youtube.co...h?v=M-5HKThVcYw To be honest, I have owned a few AWD Subaru Sti's, as well as a few Focus mk2 RS's and it really wouldn't bother me if the new mk3 was still FWD. My current RS (which is my 4th AND 5th - long story) is 350 bhp and handles fantastically. Infact those who know me on here will know that I sold my RS last year for a brand new 2015 Subaru Sti, only to sell it after 6 months and get back to the RS. That's how highly I rate the Ford. My 2nd Focus RS mk2 was up around 375+ bhp and it was just as sublime.

And after saying this under two weeks ago you now want to sell it?

Jayjay - did you buy this Sti from a dealer near Essex? Your avatar photo looks like Perkins showroom? You may have bought my old car.........

Advice needed regarding V5 and previous owners
thehulkster699 replied to thehulkster699's topic in Junk Room
Is that right? Well I've not experienced any problem with the RS. Subaru Sti in 6 months from new... 1. Leaking rear diff 2. Petrol cap that wouldn't open 3. Rear window that would drop half-way open on its own. Not good when leaving car in a public place. 4. Goddamn awful passenger door vibration that was looked at but couldn't be stopped. 5. The steering column rattling and banging when going round a corner with a rough road-surface. Then there was the crap stereo, the severe lack of grunt or performance, the waiting for dealer parts etc...... -

You don't realise that I traded an RS for the Sti.......and the Subaru just didn't top the Focus in any area. I must have been smoking something strong to think the new Sti could be better than a standard RS, let alone a mountuned Ford RS.....hence why 6 months later I got my old car back. Can't say more than that to sum up the Subaru. -
New 2015 Sti leaking from rear-diff.....
thehulkster699 replied to thehulkster699's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Contact them before your 1st service as there is a known fix for this common problem. That way your dealer can order the parts ready for you when you go in, rather than you having to take your car back again. I just used to wedge a cardboard parking disc into the gap round then petrol filler cap, THEN pull the release lever. This will open the cap ok. Try it. -
My OCD is getting the better of me. Campaign only 4% complete, but already have purchased all available maps, and busy totally clearing the 1st area of all masks, chests, wheels etc......lol.

Gambit - I got insured on my 2015 for £220 fully comp protected! That was with 9 years ncb.It cost me over £100 to swap back into my RS! Message to the op.....you don't HAVE to renew the tracker after the year is up. It's up to you. When I got insured for £220 I never even mentioned I had a tracker.

The Sun gave Farcry 4 only 3 out of 5 today. The Mirror gave it 4 out of 5. Doesn't really effect my thinking though - i'm defo going to get it asap to play on my few weeks annual leave over xmas.

Hi guys. Back in May, I traded in my much-loved Focus RS MP350 for a new Subaru Sti. A few months after owning/driving the Sti, I knew that I had made a big mistake - I really missed my RS. The garage where I traded my RS in STILL had it for sale. The reason for this was quite simple - they were asking WAY too much money for the car. Another few months went by, and finally the price of the RS was reduced to the point that I managed to do a deal to get it back - giving them back the 6 month old Subaru and putting some money back into my pocket. Now the problems began...... Before doing the deal I asked if there would be another owner added to the V5. After all, no-one else had owned the RS in the time since I traded it in. I was told by the garage no, as there is a section on the V5 whereby you DON'T tick a box for a new keeper. The garage also issued a somewhat confusing letter to the DVLA explaining that I had taken back my old car and that therefore no new owner should be added. This was all sent in with a private-reg retention certificate to put my private plate back onto the RS. As the weeks have gone by since the deal, I was getting concerned that I had heard nothing and still not received the logbook back in my name. So a few days ago I began calling the DVLA to see if anyone can shed-light onto what's happening. I was told today that the hold-up has been because of the previous owners situation. But my main worry is that the DVLA told me today that another owner WILL be added onto the V5. So I will be in the ridiculous situation of being both the previous and current owner of the RS. Can anyone help me with some advice? I'm thinking of just letting them do what they need to do, and when I finally get the V5 back maybe start some sort of appeal to remove an owner?

I've just flogged my copy of Alien on eBay......I just wasn't playing it. It was !Removed!. I've got the new call of duty to play, and I've got GTA coming. Think I'll put the cash towards far cry 4.

Farcry 3 is the only game I ever wanted to unlock ALL the achievements on. Awesome game, can't wait for Farcry 4......on Xbox One.

GTAV.... 1st person mode?!?!
thehulkster699 replied to Sandals's topic in Games/Console/Computer Nerd Room
I've got this for the xbox 360, but stopped playing it after a week or so. Not sure why? Wasn't going to get this again but the 1st person mode has made me change my mind! I hope it's not been done in a half-assed way though....... Anyway, I've also got an Xbox one now so I've just bought this from Tesco direct. There is a fiver off pre ordered games making it £39 delivered, BUT, if any of you have clubcard vouchers you can double them up. I lobbed £6 of vouchers in which turned into £12, so all in all the game has cost me £27! Bonus! -

New 2015 Sti leaking from rear-diff.....
thehulkster699 replied to thehulkster699's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Well, I'm going to get flamed for this........ But I'm getting my (old) RS back on Saturday. It's been an expensive 6 month test drive of the Sti, but come Saturday I'll have the RS back home with a cheque to put some money back into my poor bank account. Luckily, my RS was not sold (probably because the dealer tried to get too much money for it) but now I've seized the chance and done a deal to get her back. Can't wait. Sorry guys. -

Cheers buddy. Sorry to say, baring in mind I'm on a Subaru forum and trying not to cause offence............wish I'd kept my money in the bank and hung onto my Focus RS. I'm slowly trying to get to grips with this sti. I prefer moving the power slightly to the front with a push of the + button. Seems to feel safer in the wet weather to me like this. Still doesn't feel as composed as the RS. The torque is nowhere on the Subaru. I have to leave her in 4th or 5th to keep momentum going, but I feel like I'm wringing the car to get any sense of speed. Whereas in the RS the power was there even in 6th at 50/60 mph. -

I'm going to phone Slacks in the morning and ask some questions. I'm 30 miles from them, and won't be happy if I have to keep going back and forth. Thanks for the info buddy. -

Have you got a link to that US site where this is being talked about please buddy? And yes - I'm really disappointed on the build quality of the sti. Passenger door vibration is also getting looked at for the 2nd time on the 31st as well. I'm hoping the fuel filler problem can be fixed without needing to take it back in again after the 31st. -

FFS. My petrol cap cover won't open now. It's not springing open. Could have been a major problem as I was on the fuel warning light nowhere near home. I had to get someone in the petrol station to pull the release lever in the driver footwell, while I carefully used the thin cardboard parking clock/disc to prise it open carefully without scratching any paintwork. Another job to be done on the 31st.
