  1. Not sure if this question was addressed to me? But if so, then yes I ran the car in from new.
  2. Mine was mp350.......... Don't listen to me. My last RS was my 4th believe it or not. I kept selling after a year or so, but ended up missing having an RS too much, so I kept getting another. You will love the Sti, but it's just not an RS. But it's nice having such a rare car, and I'm loving the 4 doors and cruise control. Just want a bit more "umph".
  3. Just been for a run-out to Whitby today. Got loads of admiring looks, even a few people wandering across for a natter up in the Abbey car-park. But I'll be honest. I'm struggling with this car. It just hasn't got anywhere near the grunt/performance of the Focus RS I traded in for it. I feel like I have to wring the neck of the Subaru to get it going, and even then it just doesn't feel like it's doing what it says on the tin. The actual on the road performance just doesn't match the paper figures to me.
  4. I'm confused. I thought the quick-shift was standard?
  5. Nice one buddy. What are the exhaust trim and cills? Any pics/photo?
  6. I ended up deciding to NOT come off the field where everyone else was, as there was quite a drop and thought I might end up grounding the Subaru. So I spun round and zipped off back up the field and went out the way I came in. No probs at all.
  7. lol. Nope. No-one was bothered at all. The weather was terrible! It didn't stop raining all the time we were there, and at times was really heavy. Eventually found the VIP tent (no signs on it or anything) and had a sit-down and a coffee or two. Almost got caught-out coming back over the A66 by a speed camera van. That would have made my day. Quite a good show actually, much better than the Yorkshire show that's held just outside of Northallerton every year.
  8. Well, we are setting off now. It's already rained overnight. Bums.
  9. Was there much there then? Is it defo worth the trip? What was the parking like? Safe and plenty of room between cars?
  10. We'll, the blue beast is all clean and shiny. Even hoovered her out and shot-in another airfreshener. Hoping that the rain stays away to at least get there clean in the morning.
  11. Saturday is an absolute no-go for me due to my daughter needing to be in Barnard Castle for a wedding. But looking at the weather forecast for Sunday........i'm not sure we'll be going at all now. It will end up a mud-fest.
  12. Lol. I would have rather taken our more economical other family car than the Subaru, but I would feel a bit cheeky rocking up with my free tickets and not be in the Subaru. Added to that, if the weather is wet - then most of these types of show are a nightmare to get in/out of because they park everyone in fields that get churned up with wet mud.
  13. To be honest I've not decided. I was going to choose the best day weather-wise, but I'm thinking Sunday would be better and maybe less busy?
  14. Nice one buddy. It's meant to be a really nice show, and the tickets are worth £16 pound each. This is the blurb on the email for the tickets.... "Subaru are key sponsors of this years Lowther Show, set in the stunning Cumbrian countryside. As a friend of Subaru, we would like to offer you free tickets to the show, complimentary speciality coffees, and the best seats in the house - theres no catch! It would be great to see you there." I wonder what to expect reading that?
  15. Looks like I may be the only Subaru going then.
  16. Hi guys. I've received some free tickets through Subaru for this show! Just wondering if anyone else has been sent the free invites, and who else is going? I'm hoping the weather stays nice and dry! :)
  17. Wonder what mines worth now they've all sold out?
  18. Well - if there IS 1000 coming to the UK, then someone at Subaru must be wanting to push the UK market again. Can only be good news for the future of the Subaru performance models here.
  19. Didn't think there were 1000 coming to the uk?
  20. Another RS owner leaving the fold and coming to Subaru. Can we ban the word "mats" from this thread please? Lol.
  21. Thanks for that - very interesting reading. It's going to take some digesting before I fully get a grip though! Basically though - if I want to press on a bit where the conditions are good, I put it in sport/sport# and engage minus? If the snow fell on our area and we needed to get across a muddy field, I just leave the car in i-mode and engage plus?
  22. Hi mate. We have done about 1200 miles in ours since getting it last month. I ran it in safely, only opening the taps to about 4000 revs a handful of times, but now we are past the 1000 miles mark it'll start to loosen up more. To be honest I don't drive it during the week, as I do about 250 miles a week getting to work, so my wife takes it. She is averaging about 26mpg driving around our countryside roads here in North Yorkshire. On the way back from Essex where we bought it, the trip computer said we were getting an average of 34mpg for the 200 mile trip back using cruise where possible and sticking to national speed limits. I used to have a Focus RS (it was my 4th believe it or not) and I do miss it. The performance of the sti isn't as brutal or as instant as the RS, but the levels of grip in the Subaru are fantastic. It seems to carry speed much easier than the RS. The 4-doors are a bonus for my family, having an 11 years old and 6 year old jumping in and out of the back. Cruise is nice to have as well. The stereo is TERRIBLE. The worst system I've ever had in a car. It's too tinny and the clarity is naff. I find I'm always fiddling with the volume for different songs due to always trying to get the levels right. I used to own a brand new sti type-uk back in 2005, but due to job reasons I had to sell it after only 6 months. It's nice to be back in one now after so many years, but I wish it had gold wheels as standard. I will probably end up getting mine powdercoated at some point. I feel with the gold alloys it would just help it stand out a little more, but not everyone wants that I know. Maybe the dark alloys will grow on me. I wish there was a center armrest as well! We tend to just leave it in i-mode, or sometimes sport, not bothering with sport#. I've not messed around with the diff settings due to not really having much of a clue. Some more-helpful hand-over pointers from the dealer would have been better I think, but in all honesty driving around on UK roads the question is do I really need to bother with the diff settings?
  23. No, I'll pull the mats out of the RS and shoehorn them into the subaru infront of them! Lol.
