WRX 05 - How much bhp gain with remapping?
I decided to keep it until I move....and take a bit more equity out of the house to buy a better car than I can afford right now. So still got it mate :D I do really enjoy driving it still so not a hardship for me to keep it. Just been on a 3 week holiday and I'm like a little kid again...all excited to drive it I thought it just removed the downpipe but my memory isn't as good as it was :D

WRX 05 - How much bhp gain with remapping?
Stants, for 265-270? I've not decatted. I have all the standard cats....including the one the full PPP exhaust system doesn't have. and I have the graph to prove 272bhp :D Duncan from Racedynamic (mapped mine). He said he tends to get more bhp out of the later model Blobs than the earlier blobs and bugs. Wasn't sure why but thats what he tends to see. I think it's quite incredible you can buy a 10 year old scoob and it has the same bhp as when it left the factory.

WRX 05 - How much bhp gain with remapping?
I'd suggest upgrading the backbox to a PPP or WR Sport, Only cost me £100 and fit a panel air filter £30. No point not doing those if you're paying £400+ for a remap. My mechanic suggested fuel pump just to be safe. And you're looking at 260-275

WRX 05 - How much bhp gain with remapping?
I did that (bought a second hand WR sport back box). I still have all cats and a remap made 272. Massive difference to standard, just such a smooth power delivery [emoji106]

Looking for good Scooby specialist
Another vote for Dan and John and SSS. Dan can be a little tricky at times to contact as he's so busy but he does a great job and his invoices are very detailed [emoji106][emoji4] Highly recommended.

trackers
I bought one. I got one that is portable so you can move it to the next car...Mtrack I think. Not sure if I'd recommend. Supposed to be a better tracker and harder to find as it is battery powered (charge once a year) but you need another remote to turn it off and on which is a slight pain...think I'd have preferred a wired in one.

2004 Silver Blob (£4k spent in last 14 months) Price drop £4k only!!
You should have seen the salesmanship face when I said "lovely car but not very fast is it" when he was thrashing it on my test drive I then went to talk to the guy who was on the test drive before me (the one I was following)...he was looking to buy it as a track car...so I suggested he should supe it up unless he wanted to be passed on the straights. Don't get me wrong. Stunning car to drive. Very comfortable, sounds incredible and just sticks to the road...just needs another 50bhp

2004 Silver Blob (£4k spent in last 14 months) Price drop £4k only!!
Thanks mate. Yea, I was driving to a garage to test drive a Cayman 3.4S when I stumbled across it being test driven by someone else. We were driving very enthusiastically through the country lanes and I was easily keeping up..to the point I had to keep easing off. At one point I thought I should put my indicator on to overtake lol but thought better of it considering I wanted a test drive. Got the dash cam somewhere [emoji16][emoji39]

2004 Silver Blob (£4k spent in last 14 months) Price drop £4k only!!
Yea I think I just need to put it in autotrader. Salesman got me in a 3.2ltr Boxster S on Friday. Very sluggish compared to my scoob [emoji57]

Advice on my second Impreza
I have a blob (for sale [emoji2]) with 272bhp currently and it's pretty much standard, all cats etc. My mapper said it would hit 290 easily just by putting on an uppipe without a cat and remapping (think he said uppipe). I think Duncan has a guide on his site taking you through the stages...racedynamix

2004 Silver Blob (£4k spent in last 14 months) Price drop £4k only!!
Thanks Mate. I did have a fair bit of interest at my original price but ended conversations to focus on the house. So I'd be surprised if it hangs around. Yes, I'm going the Porker route. Daughter has only one year until Uni so one family car in the house hold is enough now. (daughter will also start to learn to drive in the summer...jeez where did the time go!). You can get quite a lot for £15-20k but they have very similar engine problems to Hatches so got to be very careful, especially with...gulp...£9k engine rebuilds. So I'm looking at independent specialise inspections!

2004 Silver Blob (£4k spent in last 14 months) Price drop £4k only!!
Thanks guys. Yes, it is a real steal at this price. I've been offered £4k for trade-in so there is no chance of me accepting anything less!...if someone starts haggling I'll be increasing my price :D

2004 Silver Blob (£4k spent in last 14 months) Price drop £4k only!!
Hi All, Well few months later and new house found and our house up for sale. Mrs has approved a parallel car purchase...woohoo  So car back up for sale. I've spent over £4k on the car in the last 12-14 months. I've been offered £4k for a trade-in so in an effort to sell it to a Scoob fan rather than a company who'll then sell it on for £5.5k+ I'm selling it now for the price of £4k!!! Looking on Autotrader at £4k I could only find GX or WRX with 90-140,000 miles and no where near the same history condition as mine. So grab yourself a bargain before I sell to the trade Regards Jus.

Impreza wrx's
I've seen a fair few standard STI hatches for that price. Not seen a Cossie for that....saw one for £38k!

Funny enough I was sitting watching the telly I'm my Adidas lounge around track pants...decided I'd check my oil, water before doing a 200 mile drive the next day...neighbour saw me with the hood up and came over to say I was looking more chavvy by the day :D

Interesting. I've been reading up a bit recently...air cooled are the real porsche fan boy cars (stopped building those in the 90's). The 996 was the first water-cooled and also has ugly Boxster lights but you can get them from £15k-£20k for a good one. I'd love a 997 water-cooled 3.8. 355bhp (interestingly similar or same 0-60 to a 330s, 4.6) and you can get them for between £20-25k. Yes, engines failures with them too lol Apparently the 3.6 (the Porsche WRX ;) ) was more robust and doesn't fail so may settle for one of those. Funny enough I'm not a big Porsche fan and never seen the appeal. I just thought I still need a sub 6 sec car but would prefer a bit less road noise and more comfort (love my WRX but doing 100 miles a day with all the wind noise is getting to me). The 911 seems incredibly good value for money....and it will be easier on my piles and make up for my little nob

Impreza wrx's
well.....I said conclusion..... I think my final conclusion is to buy a 10 year old Porsche 911 as it is similar if not a bit cheaper to run! (expecting to be flamed for that :D ) . I'm doing around 10k miles a year so I'm getting my Scoob serviced every 6 months. The 911 has a 2 year/20k service interval so less flaffing around. The mpg is pretty similar, service costs would roughly average out to be the same I think, at my age insurance is pretty similar and it would keep it's value....just a thought nothing decided yet :D

Impreza wrx's
PS from the research I did I felt it was unsafe to mod...far too many stories of engines eating themselves...so my conclusion was to get an unmodded 330s and then pressure Subaru to pay up if it went pop

Impreza wrx's
I'd save for an STI From my research... WRX=225bhp, 255 for the S STI=300bhp, 325 for the aptly named 330S(?) STI= nicer looking with the arches, much nicer seats and trim. DCCD and 6 speed Insurance was £9 a year difference between the WRX and STI330S! You lose MPG...think the combined is something like 30 for WRX and 28 for STI and 25 for 330S...but you might want to double check those figures with Google [emoji1][emoji4]
