I got a replacement for my blob from Subaru last year...could try them...perhaps a blob would fit???
-
You want a dry filter...oily filters can slime up the MAF [emoji15][emoji53]
-
Although I'm not actively advertising mine I would sell it...Quite far from you though! http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/13368-2004-silver-blob-£4k-spent-in-last-14-months-price-drop-£4k-only/
-
Ah right. Yes, that fits with what Duncan was saying i.e. earlier Blobs don't make as much bhp as later. No idea why but interesting isn't it :)
-
Out of interest what year was yours Chris?
-
After a bit more reading I think you are right Stants....downpipe replaced with high flow :) ... I have standard cat on mine
-
I decided to keep it until I move....and take a bit more equity out of the house to buy a better car than I can afford right now. So still got it mate :D I do really enjoy driving it still so not a hardship for me to keep it. Just been on a 3 week holiday and I'm like a little kid again...all excited to drive it I thought it just removed the downpipe but my memory isn't as good as it was :D

Something like... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-2007-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STi-Genuine-Prodrive-Backbox-exhaust-/171836844282?hash=item28024628fa I'd keep an eye out on fleabay and the classifieds on here and other scooby sites...They very frequently come up for between £60-120 Or give Matty a call. Stants, for 265-270? I've not decatted. I have all the standard cats....including the one the full PPP exhaust system doesn't have. and I have the graph to prove 272bhp :D Duncan from Racedynamic (mapped mine). He said he tends to get more bhp out of the later model Blobs than the earlier blobs and bugs. Wasn't sure why but thats what he tends to see. I think it's quite incredible you can buy a 10 year old scoob and it has the same bhp as when it left the factory.

I'd suggest upgrading the backbox to a PPP or WR Sport, Only cost me £100 and fit a panel air filter £30. No point not doing those if you're paying £400+ for a remap. My mechanic suggested fuel pump just to be safe. And you're looking at 260-275
-
I did that (bought a second hand WR sport back box). I still have all cats and a remap made 272. Massive difference to standard, just such a smooth power delivery [emoji106]

Looking for good Scooby specialist

Another vote for Dan and John and SSS. Dan can be a little tricky at times to contact as he's so busy but he does a great job and his invoices are very detailed [emoji106][emoji4] Highly recommended. -
I bought one. I got one that is portable so you can move it to the next car...Mtrack I think. Not sure if I'd recommend. Supposed to be a better tracker and harder to find as it is battery powered (charge once a year) but you need another remote to turn it off and on which is a slight pain...think I'd have preferred a wired in one.

Just finished shadow of mordor and now starting witcher3 -
You should have seen the salesmanship face when I said "lovely car but not very fast is it" when he was thrashing it on my test drive I then went to talk to the guy who was on the test drive before me (the one I was following)...he was looking to buy it as a track car...so I suggested he should supe it up unless he wanted to be passed on the straights. Don't get me wrong. Stunning car to drive. Very comfortable, sounds incredible and just sticks to the road...just needs another 50bhp
-
Thanks mate. Yea, I was driving to a garage to test drive a Cayman 3.4S when I stumbled across it being test driven by someone else. We were driving very enthusiastically through the country lanes and I was easily keeping up..to the point I had to keep easing off. At one point I thought I should put my indicator on to overtake lol but thought better of it considering I wanted a test drive. Got the dash cam somewhere [emoji16][emoji39]
-
Yea I think I just need to put it in autotrader. Salesman got me in a 3.2ltr Boxster S on Friday. Very sluggish compared to my scoob [emoji57]
-
No probs mate...good luck with your search
-
I have a blob (for sale [emoji2]) with 272bhp currently and it's pretty much standard, all cats etc. My mapper said it would hit 290 easily just by putting on an uppipe without a cat and remapping (think he said uppipe). I think Duncan has a guide on his site taking you through the stages...racedynamix

Thanks Mate. I did have a fair bit of interest at my original price but ended conversations to focus on the house. So I'd be surprised if it hangs around. Yes, I'm going the Porker route. Daughter has only one year until Uni so one family car in the house hold is enough now. (daughter will also start to learn to drive in the summer...jeez where did the time go!). You can get quite a lot for £15-20k but they have very similar engine problems to Hatches so got to be very careful, especially with...gulp...£9k engine rebuilds. So I'm looking at independent specialise inspections!
-
Thanks guys. Yes, it is a real steal at this price. I've been offered £4k for trade-in so there is no chance of me accepting anything less!...if someone starts haggling I'll be increasing my price :D
