  1. Mine does feel faster yes. Well worth the money...but as I said the smooth delivery of power is wonderful, feels a different car. Duncan said the later blobs do seem to produce more bhp...so don't get disappointed if you don't hit 270 [emoji4]
  2. I think standard STI is closer to 265. Interesting it mentions a different turbo...
  3. 2004 blob 2.0 WRX. Uprated fuel pump, piper cross and a second hand prodrive back box. Mapped using the standard ECU. 272bhp :D Best thing I like about the remap is the smooth power delivery. I didn't notice an improvement in MPG...perhaps worse due to a more fun car to drive Duncan (racedynamix) did mine too
  4. Gulp! Very nice looking car.
  5. Now this is interesting..taken from the wikipedia page..talking about the WRX. 0-60 of 4.7 :D I can't actually find that from a WRX if I check the zero - 60 website but whats half a second between friends. In response to criticism that the third generation WRX suspension is too soft, and needing to keep on par with rival car companies new releases, Subaru issued several changes in 2008 for the 2009 model year. The EJ255 engine received an output boost to 198 kW (265 hp) and 331 N·m (244 lb·ft) of torque by swapping the previous TD04 turbocharger to an IHI VF52. This lent to the car now achieving a 0-60 time of just 4.7 seconds, as tested by Car and Driver.[
  6. Yes good call. Thats why I've ended up with a blob with 272bhp... I wanted slightly more comfort, slightly less in ya face looks and more money in my pocket :D For me the benefit the remap gave was very nice smooth power delivery.
  7. Interesting you say about the STI. I've been contemplating that myself. What scares me is the number of 2.5 STI failures. I read a few posts by an engine builder on scoobynet and he was basically saying the STI's are the ones that have had all the engine trouble and he's only had one WRX in for a rebuild. Jay, yes very good idea. I do need to get my butt down to the Surrey meet...I've met a few of the guys outside of the meet and some have helped me out. Just not made it to one of the meets yet (must try harder). I know TG has a Hatch STI - beautiful car - which has recently unfortunately had an engine rebuild after failure. I'm sure he'd take me out for a spin too.
  8. Thanks Alex, very helpful
  9. Yea I'll take test drive....nearest I could find was 60 miles away. Interesting about diesels..but wouldn't get one due to its 0-60...9 seconds or something?
  10. well...she hasn't got a Focus....its a Honda Jazz but they're pretty much the same car :D
  11. Nah...considering a Impreza Hatch....dont want a Focus...my mums got one of those shopping trolleys
  12. :D I did consider one but I just don't need a bigger car....and still want <6sec 0-60 ;)
  13. Im not that old yet (45) but I got quote for 911's, Cayman, Evos, M3's and they were all under 300 [emoji3]
  14. Ah ah my nephew has one of those and his insurance was a lot cheaper...if you don't speed, don't drive at night etc. He just trundles around in a Yaris [emoji3]
  15. Thanks Jay. Just started a new thread in the Impreza area. I'd like a more refined car but I don't want to lose the <6sec 0-60, 4wd and I really don't want a Ford/Audi/Honda.
  16. I'm considering trading in my blob for a hatch. I'm doing roughly 100 miles a day (company pays petrol) and was wondering whether the hatch would be a bit more refined....more comfortable and quieter (wind & road noise). Has anyone switched, how did you find the hatch after your blob/bug? Were you pleased with the change or disappointed? I've not fallen out of love with my blob...just a wonderful drive but with the mileage I'm doing it and my ever increasing age it would be nice to have a more refined car. Without selling out and buying a boring audi or chavy Ford or losing the smirk inducing performance. P.S. I'm very aware of the engine failures that the STI's more than standard WRX's suffer from :D
  17. I pay £250 a year including AA for 15,000 miles a year. I have two cars and they gave me the NCD on both :D I've been contemplating changing to a hatch. I've not driven one before but I'm expecting it to be a lot more comfortable on the motorway (doing 94miles a day, company pays the petrol). Not that the Blob is uncomfortable..
  18. The article is almost 2 years old but I've always been a bit slow out of the car :D http://www.motors.co.uk/news/general/subaru-drivers-amongst-safest-on-road
  19. You are right it's not...If you read the reviews they are talking about Minis, not getting a drink when they visited, servicing issues and one mentions "Charles Hurst Nissan" :D I'm not defending them by the way.
  20. When I was looking a year ago I got quite a few recommendations for them. Didn't use them in the end or even go to see them so no experience myself. They do always have a number of interesting models.
  21. if you pm me the reg I can see how Experian have recorded it in their database if you like. I wouldn't worry too much as long as they have the vehicle reg, engine, the fact that its a sti and also the value right.
  22. Dino what car do you have? My blob says 98 in the manual and on filler cap. I only stick in VPower, it runs a lot smoother and you get better mileage...so I'd suggest not being tight and stick what it likes in it [emoji3] I bought the car for its performance. I didn't buy it to drive around like an old granny. It's all about the big cheesy grin as that turbo kicks in....all done safely and within the law [emoji6] It's serviced more than it needs to be and no expense spared.
  23. Congratulations...let's see those pictures [emoji2]
  24. Can't help with yours but I have an iPhone with copilot satnav on it. I've got all the voice commands turned off except for speed cameras...which you can set to warn you at various distancies...so pretty much does the same thing
  25. A25 from Dorking to Reigate. I see that car parked up in Reigate quite often
