  1. Im not that old yet (45) but I got quote for 911's, Cayman, Evos, M3's and they were all under 300 [emoji3]
  2. Ah ah my nephew has one of those and his insurance was a lot cheaper...if you don't speed, don't drive at night etc. He just trundles around in a Yaris [emoji3]
  3. Thanks Jay. Just started a new thread in the Impreza area. I'd like a more refined car but I don't want to lose the <6sec 0-60, 4wd and I really don't want a Ford/Audi/Honda.
  4. I'm considering trading in my blob for a hatch. I'm doing roughly 100 miles a day (company pays petrol) and was wondering whether the hatch would be a bit more refined....more comfortable and quieter (wind & road noise). Has anyone switched, how did you find the hatch after your blob/bug? Were you pleased with the change or disappointed? I've not fallen out of love with my blob...just a wonderful drive but with the mileage I'm doing it and my ever increasing age it would be nice to have a more refined car. Without selling out and buying a boring audi or chavy Ford or losing the smirk inducing performance. P.S. I'm very aware of the engine failures that the STI's more than standard WRX's suffer from :D
  5. I pay £250 a year including AA for 15,000 miles a year. I have two cars and they gave me the NCD on both :D I've been contemplating changing to a hatch. I've not driven one before but I'm expecting it to be a lot more comfortable on the motorway (doing 94miles a day, company pays the petrol). Not that the Blob is uncomfortable..
  6. The article is almost 2 years old but I've always been a bit slow out of the car :D http://www.motors.co.uk/news/general/subaru-drivers-amongst-safest-on-road
  7. You are right it's not...If you read the reviews they are talking about Minis, not getting a drink when they visited, servicing issues and one mentions "Charles Hurst Nissan" :D I'm not defending them by the way.
  8. When I was looking a year ago I got quite a few recommendations for them. Didn't use them in the end or even go to see them so no experience myself. They do always have a number of interesting models.
  9. if you pm me the reg I can see how Experian have recorded it in their database if you like. I wouldn't worry too much as long as they have the vehicle reg, engine, the fact that its a sti and also the value right.
  10. Dino what car do you have? My blob says 98 in the manual and on filler cap. I only stick in VPower, it runs a lot smoother and you get better mileage...so I'd suggest not being tight and stick what it likes in it [emoji3] I bought the car for its performance. I didn't buy it to drive around like an old granny. It's all about the big cheesy grin as that turbo kicks in....all done safely and within the law [emoji6] It's serviced more than it needs to be and no expense spared.
  11. Congratulations...let's see those pictures [emoji2]
  12. Can't help with yours but I have an iPhone with copilot satnav on it. I've got all the voice commands turned off except for speed cameras...which you can set to warn you at various distancies...so pretty much does the same thing
  13. A25 from Dorking to Reigate. I see that car parked up in Reigate quite often
  14. With buying a Subaru its all about spending your time looking and a bit of travelling to get the right one. If the silver one is in good nick then it'll drive like a rocket....but it is high mileage for the money...and it's not blue [emoji4] I had looked at a fair few and travelled hours to look at them...I got to the point of thinking I'd have to do weekends away in Wales etc to get the right one... before I settled on mine... and I compromised on the colour. Should I have waited for a blue one?...perhaps
  15. No sorry mate I was giving you recent examples of engine failures. The hawk was at my specialist Subaru garage in pieces....when I had a chat to the mechanic (he's worked on Subarus for years and worked for Subaru at one point)...he said the 2.5 are rubbish. If you bought the 2.5 and it has FSH and hasn't been abused (red lining it before warm etc)...then you might not need to do anything [emoji3]
  16. Yea I agree...no point risking it with insurance
  17. The one at my dealers was a WRX hawk and the hatch is a STI. If you have your heart set on one go for it mate...you'll probably be fine, not all of them fail [emoji3]
  18. As a guide I bought my blob for £4.3k with 58k miles on the clock and FSH. So I'd look around for a lower mileage with FSH.....FSH is a must in my book
  19. £500 is for cars from March 23rd 2006. So before that Hawks are £285. So has to be a 06 plate. Usually in the ad they will say it's lower tax band..if not you'll have to ask. Do they fail often...they don't fail every week or anything crazy like that [emoji15] but lots do fail...my specialist Subaru mechanic was rebuilding one when I took mine for a service and said he has done loads and they are weak...ive heard of two major fails in the past month that needed full engine builds
  20. A friends WRX STI hatch had its engine fail...and heard of others so I'm not that convinced they resolved all the issues tbh. I'm sure lots of them are perfectly fine...but there'd always be that doubt in my mind to the point of keep £2.5k aside just in case. Obviously just my view and I'm sure loads of owners would argue with me on this [emoji3]
  21. What about a classic or blob?
  22. Duncan remapped mine. I got 272bhp with Prodrive back box, Pipecross panel filter and fuel pump. The power improvement did make a difference but I think the biggest improvement was the smoothness. Just a lot nicer to drive now [emoji3]
  23. Was just looking on Autotrader at a P1. I think you have to be willing to travel if you're looking for 1 of only a thousand cars made over 15 years ago [emoji6]
