  1. Especially if the number is Nigerian :D
  2. Mate the work you do here means you get first dibs.
  3. Should have said. If you pick it up you can have it for free :)
  4. I'd love it Andy. I have a 04 WRX. Where are you in the country? pS your choice but I'd suggest you remove your mobile num, get some loons on the web ;)
  5. I've done that. FSH was 3 stamps in 10 years! Or rebuilt engine that was being driven around with no oil. I bought a WRX recently and did quite a few 150+ mile round trips. I decided to do weekends away in premier inns to look at cars in other part of the country. South Wales, Cheshire/midlands looked like two very good areas with a higher than usual number of low mileage Imprezas. I used google custom map to plot all the scoobies for sale (yawn) Good luck with your hunting.
  6. I can't really tell from the pics what is missing. From the description it sounds like I have the part. See picture below. I bought both sides for a tenner from a breaker. so if it's the right part I'm happy post it to you for a fiver if it's the right part or you can pick up from Reigate. I'm not doing it for the money and it'll be more hassle than its worth but happy to do it for a fellow Subaru owner. I'm selling cheap as a favour so I won't take returns, no offence meant but some can be odd :) The part doesn't come with the fixing screws but i think you can get them from Subaru Here's a pic... It fit my 2004 WRX, I had two holes up from the rear skirt near the rim of the wheel arch
  7. I went round to a friendly tire fitter and used his car lift...wire brushed and painted 5/8 of the underside with waxoil paint...just sooo much easier using a car lift. heaven. then replaced my cracked foglight
  8. I'd also suggest saving your fuel receipts. Would impress anyone in the know to see high Ron has been used for a few years. Ps you do get better MPG from higher RON so I wouldn't worry too much about the cost, kinda levels out...kinda
  9. So far I've asked all the breakers on the subaru forums and searched ebay and just a general google search. There was one being sold from Latvia....but I think that may fall into the category Jonny mentioned, i.e. dodgy copy that won't fit/work properly.
  10. Well thanks for the warning. I'll let you know if i find anything. Might just superglue the one I have them :)
  11. HI folks I hope someone can help me...My passenger side Fog on my 2004 UK Blob WRX is quite badly cracked. I'm really struggling to find a replacement. I've talked to Halfords and quite a few breakers but no-one seems to have one :( Does anyone know where I can get one? Regards Jus.
  12. My friend has a skyline with cats removed. He goes into the mot station and tells them it doesn't have a cat and if they tell him he needs one he'll remove it straight after testing anyway so what's the point? He's not had any problems for years and has moved around.
  13. I'm just interested to understand what is causing the insurance to be so high. Is it your age, lack of NCD or the mod on your car do you think? I'm currently paying £225 for a bog standard WRX and I'm kind of getting interested in the Mod scene but am a bit scared of what it can do to my insurance.
  14. Will do mate. I'm not mates with him or anything but will suggest it. He has some great cars for breaking
  15. Can you give us some more info Smiler? How much have you got to spend, what year/model are you interested in and where are you? I came to the conclusion I'd have to do a few weekends away to find my car. I had one planned to Bristol/South Wales as there seems to be a lot there. If I got no luck there then I was going to have a weekend away to Birmingham/Liverpool....but in the end I found one nice and local, around 70 miles from home :)
  16. I'd like to see Subaru specialists and breakers on here. I don't like the nobby atmosphere on another well known forum but I've found the Breakers to be invaluable....so I have to keep going to that cr@p site. I'd also like to see Gambit in a shirt :P
  17. Great post. I'm sure I saw you wrote some buying advice for another guy in here but just can't find it now. I've written what I can remember and added a few more suggestions :) Check the oil to make sure its oil and hasn't got anything else in it, like water/foam I checked a car recently and the dipstick was bone dry!! Check the rad to make sure it's got water in it and not mixed with oil. Ask them for the last MOT test number from the VT20 test certificate so I can check the MOT history (&Mileage) on http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/servlet/ECHIDDispatcher If you have any suspicions that the clutch may be iffy, here's a simple test you can do while accelerating from a stop. Put the car in first, accelerate to normal shift point (3k rpm is mine). Shift to second and go back to about 3250/3500 rpm. Instead of hitting third gear, try to put the car in 4th gear. Once it's in gear, floor the gas pedal. If the clutch is in good shape the car will kind of bog down and chug along as it picks up RPM then will come alive at about 2800 rpm and feel strong. If you put it in gear, floor it, and the engine seems like it's revving out and starting to really get going but the car is still sluggish and is not accelerating proportionally to the engine RPM....start asking questions, this is a sign of excessive clutch wear. Buy with your head and not your heart I'd also add, assess the owner and his house not just the car. You'll get a good idea how he treats his car by looking at how he lives and acts and also by just talking to him. If something seems too good to be true be very wary. If something doesn't seem right it probably isn't. Buy with your head and not your heart. Try and see and test drive a perfect/excellent version of the car you are looking for before you start looking. You'll then know what one feels like to drive. Friend might help? If it's a dealer you can ask them whether they have done a HPI check to see whether it's been stolen, written off etc. Me personally for piece of mind I'd always do my own HPI check, its only about £15 after all :)
  18. I've never owned a car for so long. My first Impreza I bought brand new (bugeye) and owned for 6 years. I only sold it as I was emigrating. Every day I got behind the wheel and smiled. Incredible car. You just can't put a cost on that :) life is too short.
  19. Here we go.. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/full-cars-breaking-for-spares-438/
  20. Thanks for the welcome. You seem to be quite a prolific poster on here :D Who's scooby Pete?
  21. No mate. I've been using Matty @ MB Developments. No bit is (err can't believe I'm saying this) is too small. I've ordered a couple of quid plastic strip from him. I can't believe some of the cars he's breaking...they look mint lol
  22. Not sure I'm allowed to mention this but on BBs.scoobynet there's a trade section for breakers. Get absolutely anything there :)
