  1. Do you need any additional parts to fit there or are they just a direct swap out, setup, alignment and off you go?
  2. All done, pleased with the result, they fade out with the dome lights when the doors are shut :)
  3. Put my fog light covers on today after spending the week painting them
  4. Figured it out of what to wire up to the dome wiring but now just need to find an improvised tool that is long enough and thin enough to push the wire in between the roof lining!
  5. So I'm looking to wire up a pair of foot well LED strips in the driver and passenger foot well to the dome light wiring so they fade in and out when the doors are opened but not too sure where to feed the wires from as teh getting into the roof lining is fiddley! If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great!
  6. Decided to go blue today da ba dee da ba die, next up is to replace the clock with a nice triple set of blue gauges in a pod but not very confident with doing that by myself
  7. Given her a new lip today she's been screaming at me for the sti front splitter for a while now and I just caved in :D Fitment was easy and straight forward with a jack and axle stands on my drive :) Painting a set of sti fog lights covers for it too as we speak!
  8. I am considering doing a similar setup in my blob after reading through this thread but it would be my first time also playing with gauges so not very confident or knowledgeable about fitting them myself. Aside from buying the 3 same gauges, a pod to fit them in and one of the subaru fitting kits for the oil gauges would I need anything else? If I buy these is anyone near York able to lend me a bit of guidance on what to do as it's difficult see where everything goes in the engine bay without knowing someone who has good understanding of it all so I do mess it up in anyway or chop the wrong hose or cable
  9. Brand : Michelin Pilot Sport 3 Size : 225/45YR18 xl £348 for the set as I fit and balanced them myself in the garage I used to work at Michelin were giving out £75 fuel cards at the time too for when you bought 4 tyres from so it was very much worth it! All year round use been excellent grip and very predictable handling in all weather. All wearing evenly and lasting a long time Will most likely be buying these again from gaining a lot more confidence at higher speed in my blob with them!
  10. Finally got hooked in to investing some more in to the car after not buying anything for 9 months for it! Watch this space for a few updates very soon!
  11. Gambit that picture is 100% true haha I might be sacrificing a holiday abroad for my car at this rate! Haha a new lady friend distracted and slowed down my lust for new parts, rest assured I'm back and got lots of plans! After I'm satisfied with the visual look inside and out planning on a new turbo (vf34/35) custom made turbo back exhaust with a high flow sports cat, pink sti injectors, walbro fuel pump, short air k&n or cosworth style ram intake or cold intake system, uprated turbo to intercooler 'Y' pipe and maybe sti larger intercooler, NGK PFR 7B uprated spark plugs and a remap by andy forest to finish it off fingers crossed none of it goes wrong then it's on to getting a nice set of brembo stoppers, coilovers and uprated anti-rollbars and few other small handling perks! Had some lovely drives so far and loving the car as it is but lusting for more adrenaline speed and noise!
  12. too easily done I know haha I lasted about 9 months without getting any new parts minus the general servicing! I blame the credit card it's too easy to spend money that 'I can pay back later'
  13. Been a while since I posted as I tried to resist upgrading anything for a year but gotten myself hooked again after I had to do a bit of general servicing replacing the wheel bearing on nsf of my blob wrx and done the alternator/power steering belt and aircon belt which was a doddle then got thinking about smartening her up for the summer and ended up ordering fog light covers, sti front splitter, new vinyl's and paints to smarten up the calipers, engine bay, change hella horns colour and taking a few parts for dipping too then a few performance mods will be done over the spring/summer!
  14. I made a nice little collection of good condition used tyres that I stored away to save myself having to buy any tyres for some time but then impulse bought a set of new 18" rota alloys so these 17" tyres are now not of use to me. I have listed all the tyres, tread depth left and the sizes below with pictures of some of them - I can take more upon request. Please pm me on which tyres you are interested in and I will give prices there. 2x 225/45/17 Michelin Primacy HP 5-6mm tread 2x 225/45/17 Pirelli Cinturato P7's 6-7mm tread 3x 225/45/17 Pirelli P6000's 5-6mm tread have 2 more of these to make 5 in total but 2 only have about 2.5-3mm of tread left 2x 225/45/17 Budget tyres one Event & one BCT rotational tyre these are only about 50miles old with 8mm of tread left like new 1x 225/45/17 Bridgestone Potenza 6-7mm tread 2x 215/45/17 Michelin Primacy HP 4-5mm tread 1x 215/45/17 Michelin Winter 4-5mm tread http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg114/RaceAceMike/11406805_10153270527162631_7320401707263937358_n_zpsteuhduo7.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg114/RaceAceMike/11188445_10153270526647631_7676866152053768586_n_zpskrmetrfn.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg114/RaceAceMike/11224776_10153270527082631_5009532103925686214_n_zpstpknmexc.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg114/RaceAceMike/11401108_10153270526187631_4917605231240371473_n_zpsbjvvkcnc.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg114/RaceAceMike/11401108_10153270526187631_4917605231240371473_n_zpsbjvvkcnc.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg114/RaceAceMike/11535794_10153270526932631_5972844907774366811_n_zpsmsykcflf.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg114/RaceAceMike/11053481_10153270526847631_2963842170724881402_n_zpsgcaocu9f.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg114/RaceAceMike/11427775_10153270525922631_8933552827085690539_n_zpsyefgkiaq.jpg
  15. I'm playing with the idea of selling my wrx 5x100 17's running on 225/45/17 tyres. I have 5 of them in subaru gold, I have just had 4 of them professionally refurbed fully with an anti corrosion coat to finish them, look brand new again (2 are still at the refurbers) the 5th wheel which the paint isn't great on has been kept just as a full size spare wheel just in case as I hate the little space saver spares! Not sure what I'd take for them as I have invested a fair bit of money in them but then bought 4 new rota drift alloys as an impulse buy!
  16. Got mine on 18's just the other month in hyper black and really like them, I went with the wide 9.5's and put a bit of tyre stretch on as I couldn't resist the wide concave spoke look although they do stick out the arches ever so slightly but still need to adjust the camber to neg 1 or 2 deg as it's 0 now and going to tinker with the ride height a bit as it's too high as it stands now, needs to drop a good 20mm without getting too low... I had the rear arches rolled for £80 to compensate too. The car still handles great on the road :)
  17. I have been quiet but busy since my last post; Treated her to new wheels & tyres, the sti style wing, front winglet spats, new plates and a new buddy inside. Next plans are to tinker with the camber and ride height and a few small cosmetics (front splitter, fog light covers & front wing canards) then start moving onto performance parts.
  18. Hella's fitted now
  19. So I've had my 55 plate wrx blob eye since June but had a few teething problems to start with no thanks to the scummy garage I bought it from but managed to get it all sorted after the usual back and forth and a few waits... just awaiting the RAF pilots to bomb the garage now as a secondary objective on their next missions to isis. Think I made a thread about it when I first joined but left it to rest... Been enjoying the car since and getting a good feel for it as it was mostly stock. Only parts modified before I took ownership was stage 1 exeedy clutch & flywheel, coilovers, a few small bits I spotted like braided flexies & grooved discs with brembo pads and a full exhaust system which I have no idea what brand or who made it but it gives out a deeper tone to the usual louder exhausts I hear popping round the roads by the garage I work in... Quite like it as it's abit different but it's not got any bolted sections through it, all welded so if I desired to remove the mid cat in the future it would become a messy job - would probably end up forking out for a new full system. So after the original scoop flew off and arguing with the garage for some time I got a new sti scoop sprayed up and fitted in the end which I'm happy with and just this week started a few of the simple mods like fitted a gfb dump valve, front strut brace, stripped headlights for detango, satin black respray & refitted with silvertec indicator bulbs front & rear, 'i' grill badge, mud flaps, front bumper lip and was going to put some red hella horns in but the ones that were sent had discolouration so sent them back for replacements. Anyway I'll quit the babble here's a few pics to show my early progress - haven't decided how far I'm going to go with it yet performance wise but here it is so far. Next plans are to fit 1 pod or two on the pillar for boost and...? A nice head unit & the sti rear wing if I can find a good one matched up to my paint from a breaker. New dark gunmetal alloys to replace gold oem set? Or scabby set for the winter to save the gold set as they are basically scratch free... I will take some proper pictures when its sat at the Squires jap meet next week if I make it in time.
  20. Unboxed my hella horns to fit them today on my afternoon off only to realise the red grill on one of them was discoloured so instead repacked and took a trip to the post office :( fuel light came on too so a trip out for fuel is in order later on when traffic is less chaotic! Got to clean up the mess the old tax disc holder left on the windscreen so that will keep me occupied for a whole 30 seconds... :D
  21. Just burned my tax disc holder as it had the name of the awful garage I got my car from on it :D
  22. Update: Rang the garage today after been told yesterday it should be ready to pick up this afternoon although the scoop issue isn't resolved yet but will get to that... only to be told an hour before I was due to catch my train that all the mechanical work I had asked for had been done BUT said they had missed one thing off the list by accident and while trying to do it a rusty bolt sheared off in the hub that was supposedly seized this afternoon resulting in them saying they would ring me tomorrow morning as they may be having to fit a new hub for me now after that unless they can successfully drill out the bolt and re-tap the threads which sounds like a 50/50 chance of the threads surviving and being a reliable solution so just hope I get the car back asap as I do miss it alot already!... Not giving up and was somewhat happy they took to my list of mechanical faults I gave them to do under the warranty that they obliged to do all of them but they have had the car 5 days now again which surely shouldn't take that long to order in the few parts needed and fit + fix the other issues. Just seems they don't get things done very quickly. Had the car nearly a month now and onlyhad chance to drive it for about 10 days of that month that's nearly gone with several of the drives ending in me feeling disappointed after finding faults. As for the scoop - spoken to two managers now in a cival manner telling them that it's not right that the scoop came off while driving after less than a week of owning the car only to be told it was above their pay grade to do anything about it apart from offer to paint one and fit it if I supplied one which I said I didn't think was right and wasn't enough as I paid my hard earned wages for that car for it seemingly to fall apart on me. So they said they would have '*****' call back to speak about it with me but still waiting for this call two days later so going to have to ring them and ask why I haven't been called and disappointed as I just feel as though they ignoring it or disregarding it. Maybe time to bring trading standards/customer rights into action and see if anything can be done...
  23. Exactly, I'm going down to garage this afternoon to have a stern word with them as obviously not happy at all and the car isn't road worthy as you say especially with the wheel studs issue, can't believe they let it out the garage like that in the first place with the speeds capable could of easily had the wheel fly off and kill myself! I'm having an ultimatum if they don't sort everything out by friday then I think it's time to go down the return the car route :(
  24. That's a good idea I'll send you a message nearer the time if I can make or if not I'll just paypal you for the heatshield - if I'm on a drive on a sunday up north will try arrange to pick it up or something possibly or will just include the postage costs in the pp
