  1. Thanks for the reply Scooby Pete!! I've had another look and I can see two grommets to the right (I'm standing at the front of the car looking in) of the brake servo. Only issue is I have no idea where that leads to in the drivers foot well, like I said I've looked in the drivers foot well and seen nothing, seems to have a layer of insulation before the metal so dunno if that's possibly hiding the hole. Would it be a good idea to remove the grommet from the engine bay and may put a coathanger through and see if/where it comes out of the footwell? This is something I've never done before :D
  2. Hey guys I decided to buy a subwoofer/amp combo off ebay (bargain vibe 12" slick at £30!) as I felt the speakers were a bit flat... sound OK since I've put a better head unit in but not enough bass for my liking! Anyway, onto the point of the thread... basically I'm confident in wiring it all up, looks like it will be easy to hide the wires etc... the only issue I have is running the power cable through the firewall to get to the battery. Now I have just spent the best part of an hour in my car, drivers and passenger side trying to fin a suitable place to run this cable but with no joy!! I can't find a single grommet on the drivers side. Passenger side seemed more promising... I stuffed my hand behind the glove box and found the main wiring bundle and a big grommet. So I removed the glove box easy enough only to encounter loads of other plastic looking stuff in the way which I opted not to touch! Looked inside the engine bay and found where the main wiring bundle comes out but I could not for the life of me remove the grommet! I think the wiring bundle is pretty taut so that could be why. Does anyone know if this is the best place to route the cable through? I imagine so as that is the side the battery is on... Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!
  3. I use a Pipercross fry type filter... and it say's that it is washable! http://www.pipercross.net/pipercross-rectangle-performance-panel-filter-length-284mm-x-width-172mm-pp1128_p24037897.htm
  4. A big hello from a fellow Fifer!
  5. Not gonna go mental, will not do anymore until next year probably!! Could do with new front tyres, still tread on them but they are cracking a little so looks like they are just old. Will get that done in the next few weeks... Next thing I would like to do is get some better discs and pads installed, but like I said will probably be some point next year!!
  6. Just to wrap this topic off, I went for the one you recommended and it is excellent! Looks the part, has a nice feel and weight... Cheers!
  7. After finally buying an Impreza which was completely standard, was unusual to hear one that is completely standard! So the quest for making the noise had to start... Thankfully I have a mate who is quite handy around cars which saved me quite a few pennies! So the first thing was replacing the panel filter, opted for a pipercross filter... we then set about removing the airbox resonator!! Took a bit of time but we got there and what a big difference! Can hear the air getting sucked in and hear the dump valve, even tho it's a recirc! Result! Next thing, exhaust!! No wonder it was quiet, the size of the silencer on the standard exhaust is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge!! So we managed to pull that off... I opted to go for a Japspeed 4.5" slashed tailpipe... tis very nice looking and not too loud (only back box) Now I have the classic Subaru burble... I am a very happy man! and it's not too loud so the Mrs is happy as well!!
  8. Might go for that, looks good... I'll just kid myself and pretend I have the STI version... :D
  9. I thought it would be little effort as well!! I'll look online specifically stating that they fit imprezas!!
  10. My 2004 Blobeye comes with a pretty boring leather gearknob... it does the trick but want something a little nicer looking! So I bought this, thought it was unbranded but it's actually momo: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006Y8BY0W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Looked pretty universal, but unfortunately even the biggest size plastic adapter was too small, think I may need to file the plastic bit a little to make it fit. Point of the thread, does anyone have any other recommendations that they know would fit? Not looking for anything fancy, just something with a nice feel and decent weight... Thanks!
  11. I'm in no hurry, I'm working a lot the next few days so I can wait a few days for delivery!! I'll have another bash at trying to get the shroud to fit over the unit... hopefully i shouldn't have to do much...
  12. Nevermind, after some more searching I have found the adapter I need... sigh... few days with no stereo for me then!! Anyone have experience with altering the shroud to make it fit correctly?
  13. I may have been a little naive about this, never had a car in which I could change the head unit!! So basically i managed to get the old unit out, spent ages getting the screws off the cage coz one of them stripped!! Anyway, managed to get the cage onto the new unit but when it came to actually wiring it up, the connector for the wiring loom is completely different to the plug that went into the standard unit. Am I supposed to wire it up directly? Is it not just a case of plugging it in? I'm struggling to find any sort of instructions online, the instructions that came with the unit detail how to set the thing up, but not actually install it!! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also... the !Removed! shroud doesn't fit properly over the new unit... didn't have time to adjust it properly as it got dark very fast...
  14. I was a No voter... I'm not going to go into mega details of why etc. I'm just glad it's done and we can continue on with our lives!!
  15. I work in Edinburgh but live just across the Forth Road Bridge in Inverkeithing!! Happy Non-Independence Day!! :D
  16. Ah right ok, follow you now! When I start doing stuff to my Scooby I will take pictures and create a new thread :D
  17. Big it up for us Edinburgh chumps!!
  18. Did you completely remove the lamps? I've seen instructions where people sandpaper the outside to remove the fogging then polish them up... did you have a different type of fogging? Mine looks to be caused by UV discolouring the plastic...
  19. I've found a good walkthrough on how to sort out the headlights, and my seatbelts don't squeek but thanks anyway!
  20. Yeh I had no idea there was such a debate with DV's until I started reading up on them before collecting my Impreza on Tuesday! Ok, so my agenda for the next couple of months: Exhaust Air Filter Possibly remove snorkel Clean up the front lights as they have fogged up a little is the snorkel just bolted on or did you have to cut it off?
  21. Thanks for that detailed reply Justin! I've read about that snorkel removal, some people say it causes a little bit of air turbulence and loses a little bit of power? Have you noticed any negative effects after doing that? I was more leaning to just upgraded the panel filter anyway... just wanted some more opinions! Was considering a hybrid dump valve and maybe set it to 50/50... but they seem quite expensive so that can wait for now!
  22. Would they fit my Subaru since mine is the blob eye? I would imagine they would otherwise you wouldn't be offering them to me :D
  23. HNNNNNG.... don't tempt me... How much would you be looking for them? Would they make the car very loud? I don't want it to be OTT...
