  1. Going for a louder sound or making more ponies?
  2. Stants, have you had a chat with Duncan to try and figure out what caused the drop in hp?
  3. I think most turbo cars almost equal their hp with torque. A standard bug seems to have 215hp/213ftlb. Some sources state different amounts. After that it's all gearing and how the power is delivered. As you said before weight is a big factor.
  4. If it's non turbo you will have less torque than an equivalent powered turbo car and it's the torque that really garners acceleration. Could also come down to gearbox ratios.
  5. The map itself gave 26hp but it does more than just power. It changed when the turbo kicks in. It's got amazing throttle response now and the mid range kick is shocking. Might sound a lot of money for the amount of power but there's a lot more to it than just ponies. [emoji5] [emoji5] [emoji5] Id highly recommend Duncan. Hes a nice bloke and has time for a chat despite being busy. I bombarded him with questions and not once did he come across fed up like I'd probably be. I was like a little kid unwrapping a new games console at Xmas.
  6. £620. Map and dyno time.
  7. I know [emoji38] mad though. I think next on the list is arb, drop links and brakes. Then start on the body work
  8. Welcome to the club!
  9. Fu uck that makes a huge difference. It's almost scary. Theres no time for a blink between 1st and 2nd. Brakes are def getting a change. It's so easy to get the speed up now. Unbelievable difference. Duncan's done a top job for me here.
  10. Yes 276hp and 280ftlb. I more chuffed how complimentary he was about my car. [emoji5] [emoji5] Gonna be leaving in a bit for a test. Edit: I'm now running 1.1bar instead of 0.8 Edit again: 1.3bar boost.
  11. All done. 276/280 [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1] he said the car is running perfect. Massive smile on his face so that can only be good news. I'm well chuffed. For those interested. It was 211 standard. 3" centre and rear put it to 234. Adding the decat downpipe, panel filter and 3 port made 250. Now after mapping and brining it all together I'm at 276. He said the only thing stopping more is my turbo.
  12. I got 234 before but didn't have decat, 3 port or panel in it. Different dyno
  13. She's had a pre run and made 250hp. That's decat 3" turbo back, panel filter, 3 port and rcm fuel pump. He said car is healthy. Good air/fuel ratio. Now he's mapping. [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1]
  14. They do take some time to cool. I've been shocked sometimes after leaving the car a good hour + only to come out to a warm car. I still do a cold start to make sure the oil is warm and circulating again. I let mine get just above the bottom line and then trundle along in 1st to the end of my road by then I'm up at half. Still give it some time after to let gearbox warm up. My needle sits below the bottom line before moving up after a minute or so.
  15. I was the same! There's no better feeling. It all depends how aggressive you've been driving. I let mine cool before getting home and still let her idle for a bit.
  16. Welcome to the club! I can't help you with the temperature I'm afraid but in regards to turbo timer, some guys stand by them and others don't use them. By the time I've sorted all my bits out or got my boy out the car it's basically cooled down the same if I had a timer. [emoji5]
  17. Yeah you did say it was a mix match but there's no history of any engine work and its quite extensive. That's not to say it didn't happen.
  18. Not sure if mine was changed then but when we did my cambelt I have hydraulic tensioner. I'm my2000
  19. I'm already smiling ear to ear. Anymore and I think my face is gonna crack.
  20. I can't contain my excitement any longer. My car is in today with Duncan for a remap! I have to wait all the way till 2pm though [emoji20] I'm hoping to hit 270hp but I'm more interested in the torque and the Lower range punch. [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji38] [emoji38]
  21. I'm not too sure. If you call icp he will be happy to help.
  22. The plastic bottle with flip lid is overflow/expansion tank.
  23. Stick your nose in the overflow and smell for exhaust/petrol smell. Also check the overflow for bubbles while the car is running. That may indicate hg. There's also a sniff test a garage can do for you to detect hydro carbons.
  24. I went with the dayco belt and pump package that icp sell. Some guys go for the gates belt. I've got no opinion either way as I'm sure they're both as good as each other in all fairness.
  25. Welcome to the club! I love a classic. Give us a shout if you need anything. And come join our Kent meets when you're all set up. [emoji5] [emoji5] [emoji106]
