Advice when going back to a car garage
Xander replied to lizziitomwrx's topic in General Subaru Chat
Kinda of an easy one and I have just gone though this myself with a full engine rebuild paid for by the dealer. In my case subaru. Tell the dealer about the problems and that you need it fixing they have to fix the car, replace it or give you your money back if the fault was in the first 6 months since selling the car and you where not made away of the faults at the time of sale. The key words to use are "Not fit for purpose" If they refuse to do one of the top 3 you can get the car fixed yourself by another garage and charge the dealer for the fix. If you have to go to court you should win without problems. You can get a lot of info from citizens advice as well https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/cars-and-other-vehicles/problems-with-the-car-you-bought/the-car-you-bought-is-faulty/ -

Most of the cosmetic parts for WRX's / STI's will fit so easy to make it look a little more aggressive. Replacing the hood for a WRX one if you like the scoop. STI spoiler and spliter should do the job as well. Performance wise I am not sure what gains you will get but exhaust and induction cone would give you better sound and some power along with a remap. Just pulling a figure out of the air from modding N/A cars myself you would expect a 20-30hp gain from the 3 mods maybe more with a de-cat.

I was looking for a loud recirculating one and thought that might be a better option. I know you can also get adjustable ones so gives you more option to get a little bit of noise without dumping all the air. -- I make Films, Websites and social media for people

Some people run them without problems others have problems. Some people say get a map for it others say don't bother. It's up to you, I don't think it can harm the car but it might not be good for it. I guess it comes down to is it worth the risk for the sounds to you -- I make Films, Websites and social media for people

Hi guys So a friend of mine was showing of his new hybrid Lexus that gets 70mpg and £0 road tax. After seeing my almost £500 road tax bill. Now I am not swapping my wrx for a hybrid any time soon but am starting to convince the misses when she gets her test past our second car should be a 60+ mpg car that I can borrow when I have to drive for work. But the though popped up about LPG and if it's something anyone runs on an Impreza for doing distance driving. From what I can tell cost should be about £1200-£1500 for the conversion and take me 2 years to get my money back. So it's not going to be a big saving for me but it's got me thinking so just wanted to see what people thought and if anyone has done it. Alex -- I make Films, Websites and social media for people

Hi Guys, So having no joy selling my alloys and tyres so going to have the tyres taken of the alloys and sell them on there own or in combinations if people want them. I have 2 Bridgestone Potanza's and 2 Turanzas both 17inch in 205/50/R17 They have good grip left and are old off the car due to moving to a set of 18's I am in Louth Lincolnshire, not far from Grimsby or Lincoln so can arrange to meet up or get shipping quotes as needed. Asking £60 a tyre but will do a deal for all 4. Thanks Alex

Have booked my wheel in to be fixed after spending best part of a grand getting them I can not drive around with a curbed one so having to pay to get it done even if I am the only one who notices. Not cheap but I know the guy is good. -- I make Films, Websites and social media for people

Yer me and Gambit where talking about going on a public day I think it's £10 to get the car in and £20 for runs all day so not that cheap but being a none event day will be quieter so can get more runs in and also pick who your racing. Could even make it a little bit of a friendly comp pick match ups out of a hat or something. People who don't want to do a mad launch don't have to as I know I don't fancy getting a new clutch just yet but also would like a few goes on the 1/4. -- I make Films, Websites and social media for people

Strange noise under engine breaking
Xander replied to Xander's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Yer few people today said release bearing but after looking into it that would make noise when I press the clutch down. A few people only in the u.s say light flywheels can be noisy. So I am hoping it's just a noise and all is well. Hummm I might give API a call and see what they say as they supplied the fly wheel. -- I make Films, Websites and social media for people -
Hi Guys, So I have just had an engine rebuild and at the same time a new clutch and fly wheel (Exedy Pink Box & API lighten flywheel) When the car is in gear and I come off the accelerator I get a light grinding noise I thought it was something scraping on the bottom of the car at first it almost sounds like strong wind noise. When I touch the accelerator or press the clutch down it goes away and if the car is left to cost out of gear it will not do it. Only when the car is left to slow down in gear or slowing down with cruise control. There is no extra vibration on the gear stick, peddles or anywhere I can tell in the car. Not sure if this is just something from having a light flywheel or something from the new clutch or something that needs fixing. So far I have had the car back just over 1000 miles and its done it since I picked it up I think. Thanks for any help Alex
