  1. Hi All,

It's been a while since I last posted on here. I'm looking for some advice and hoping you guys can help.

I currently have a 2011 WRX STI but I am considering getting a cheap car to use a project car/A car to restore. The question is do I leave my current car as is (lightly modded) and get maybe a GC8 or other car as a project car. The other option is do I use the money to turn my 2011 STI into a really nice street car with some decent upgrades?

Any suggestions and ideas are appreciated.

  2. Hi All,

The build has been quiet for a while until last week. I finally had time to get the car wrapped in its new colour and I am so happy with how it has turned out. It is not completely done just yet as I need to finish the side skirts and install the full HT Autos lip kit.

Here are some pictures of it so far. I will add some more once I have the last bits done and the kit installed 🙂

nightmare - can you get something in just to pry it out and stop the rubbing until a repair can be made?

Not sure tbh. I'm opening the door just enough to get in so it doesn't scrape too bad. It gets collected on Monday to be fixed. Should be covered by the other persons insurance.

think some of it is down to sales of vechicles.in uk car licence holders would rather drive vw,bmw, mercs and other crap then something decent.........its the way things are going....all come down number of cars being sold by the 100sthousend rather then 10shundreds

Yeah I get that. Got nothing against those cars, in fact some are very nice. But it is just a shame. I guess loud, fun cars arent for everyone lol 🙂

impreza is no more in the uk 😞 in america they even released an S209. In fact subaru models in the UK are pretty poor, no more manual gearbox and im not even sure they do any turbo charged cars any more, tis a sorry state of affairs 😞

Add in the success subaru US are having in rally and rallycross and i suspect they will only get bigger over there.

Not a fan that they are going down the auto and non turbo car route. It will be sad seeing the US and Japan getting new models and us getting nothing over here.

subaru US are much more interested in the owners, Subaru UK have basicly destroyed a fanatical following of the brand. They are more bothered about sponsering horse trials and golf tourneys now rather than motorsport 😞

It does seem that way. Yeah it is quite sad. They are not releasing STI's over here now are they?

it's similar the the wr blue, but its a more vivid colour. It was never available on road cars and its based of a kawasaki blue as i understand it.

    Hopefully this lik will work,

I do think a nice blue would look good on my shape tbf. Especially as we didn't even get a WR blue for the 11 - 14 STI in the UK. There's too many colour options to choose from

  8. So, there hasn't been much to update recently. I did get a new replacement wheel so I am back on the road. More upgrades to come soon though.

Did manage to get out for a shoot with my friend yesterday. I have added some of the photos below:

I am tempted to wrap the car again already too. Not sure whether I want keep the satin black (which I do love) or try midnight purple. What do you guys think?

Wow bit more thought than I gave it - I was just thinking mount a clock face to the front of it, hadnt considered linking that to the spokes 🙂

I will have to have a look into different options now. I'd rather use it for something and not waste it.

make a clock or table for man cave

If it was a 12 spoke wheel that would be ideal but it is only 10. Table is a very good shout.

Replacement wheel ordered. Luckily they still had 2 of my model and spec in the UK.

Nightmare - and so easily done unfortuntely

Nightmare is how I would describe it too 😞 Yeah it was and what's worse is there was nothing I could do. I think I'd have been less annoyed if it had happened by me doing something stupid, because then it was my own fault.

is that a crack on the spoke aswel?  feel sorry for you after all that work..i would check the suspension, that looks hard impact

I think it is just dirt but I will double check later. It looks like just the lip area that's damaged. Not sure if it is repairable or not? Yeah I will check suspension as soon as I can, hoping it isn't too bad though.

  13. So I hit a patch of ice under the snow as I came out my street this morning 😞

So frustrating that this has happened, not sure if it is worth repairing or replacing? Looks like it could be cracked. Not sure if there is any suspension damage or not yet.

The blocking bits allow you to remove it and not leave holes. I know they are not near you but for advice maybe phone Sheffield Subaru Services (Martin) or TDR Warwick and get a different view.

TDR is who fixed the issue for me. The blanking plates are good although I have just left the pump in place for now and had it mapped out, so the plates aren't priority. The only reason I can think why they might say it can't be mapped is if the ECU is not tunable maybe? I don't know very much about tuning sorry.

But as Jay said ring a few specialists up and I am sure they will be able to point you in the right direction.

If not there are loads of breakers on ebay so you may be able to pick up a used one cheap?

Yes that's the secondary air pump as I thought it would be. It seems to be a fairly common issue. Replacements can be expensive and even used ones can be pricey. When I had this I got it mapped out. It's a lot cheaper and you don't have to worry about it again after that.

Hi guys I not sure were to ask this but can anyone tell me what’s this in the picture , my Engine management light came on and I smelt like burning and to cut the story short the thing in the picture was making a racket and I’m sure I smelt like burning, went to a garage and the guy pulled the wires out and it stopped the noise , told me to go to a car sparky

Looks to me like the secondary air pump. If you have a more zoomed out picture it would be easier to confirm.

If it has failed then the engine management light would appear until you either get it replaced or mapped out.
