older models they were known for it, dunno if its the same on newer ones

I can confirm the issue was not the heat shield and was almost a very expensive issue. If it had not been for your recommendation on speaking to my local Subaru specialist for an MOT then it may not have been picked up.

    So thank you 🙂

  2. Hi All,

I am pretty sure my new subaru has a decat downpipe and I am wondering what people would suggest in regards to MOT. Does anyone know any places in the midlands etc that will do an MOT for me? If so please PM me details.

If not will I just have to bite the bullet and get a catted downpipe?

  3. Hi All,

I was hoping someone on here may be able to help me. I have noticed in the last few weeks a rattling noise when driving. It seems to be when pulling off/lower revs that is happens. I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of what to check. It does not do it when idle or when driving normally.

If you need anymore info please let me know.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Hi All,

It's been a while since I last posted on the forum. But since then I have bought a new car. I now have a 2015 STI and it came with some nice aftermarket mods. One of those being a set of tein flex z coilovers. I'm looking for some advice as the car is pretty low on these coilovers and sometimes I still scrape the undertray on large speed bumps. The car is supposedly at max height at the back and the fronts have been raised to the same height. I still have room to raise the car at the front but not sure if it would 1. look odd with the front being higher than the back and 2. affect the way the car drives.

Can anyone offer any advice on what to do? I don't want to install my lip kit until it is raised as I will just end up ripping it off while driving. I still have the stock suspension so I was thinking of maybe going back to that with some upgraded lowering springs. What are your thoughts on the best option?

I have added some photos below so you can see the ride height.

I've got the tein flex z over the xmas for about 700£. Had them installed about 3 weeks ago. I'm quite happy with them. In almost the softest setting they were soft but you can feel the linear springs. City ride sxcelent but at hiway speed car was a bit wavy.  Since then I went up to 8 cliks front (out of 25kicks damping) in the front and 13 clipks rear. Car still on the soft side but eager to go (forester jdm 2.0 t). Work in progress.

Aut of the box set up by tein, dropped the car about 1". Was not expecting for that but looking better and finally today I've just almost took my rear bumper off over a insignificant curb :(

Quality wise they are beautiful but green.

If anybody knows, one question, when I put them on I realized that I have camber adjustable bolts only in the front. What if I put the camber adjustable bolts in the rear and adjust fronts from the camber plate. I'm only looking to about 1°?

From the sound of things they do seem like a good option. But as you say I'm also not a fan of the green. I guess that you can really see them when they are on the car though.

If they were the same green as the top mounts of the HSD's then they would be nice.

I  cannot speak from personal experience however 4 of the drivers I know all went with the Tein option and are really happy with them

They do seem like a good option then. My guess is they are all probably very similar to each other at this sort of price point. I'm guessing you haven't heard peoples opinions on any of the others?

  8. Right so I have been looking into what options I have for coilovers and I have put them below with prices. Which brands would you guys recommend/which is the best value for money? All opinions/experiences are appreciated.

    - BC Racing BR - £849

    - Yellow Speed Racing DPS - £739

    - HSD Monopro - £803

    - Meisterr Zetacrd - £835

    - Tein Flex Z - £828

All of these options have dampening adjustment. Will there be huge differences between all of these models? Any of these brands I should stay away from?

  9. Haven't done anything to the car for the last few months but that should be changing soon. Starting to look at parts I want and getting those ordered.

Only a small mod for now but I have replaced my stock gear knob for a new RCM gear knob.

This is what I was sent..

"TEIN street basis z is absolutely spot on for daily use - 3 of us have them"

Okay that is good to know. Can pick them up for less than £500 I think. They are height adjustable only right?

Just trying to see what options are available for my car and what would be best to go with. Not sure what the best brands are to look at.

Not too many - When it comes to upgrades its a slippery slope 😆

Haha I know right. I've taken it easy so far but there's a lot I want to purchase before summer. Also I am planning to move out early this year so want to get parts why I've got funds 🙂

Also need to make sure I have some funds to start my wrapping/tinting/other customisation business that I want to get started this year.
