  1. Shape and size-wise they look almost identical and at half the cost, I'm pretty tempted. I might just bite the bullet and go for them...
  2. Tell me about it, mate! The whole thing went as follows: I'm in the driver's seat, he's at the window. I see him go to put his hand up to lean on them. I think to myself, "maybe I should tell him not to lean on them in case they brea..." SNAP! Knowing how rare they are, it's safe to say I was pretty devastated. I found a pair on Japan Parts for £150, but, as you say, once you factor in shipping at £148 + customs, tax etc, you're looking at £350+. I have found these though: http://www.hicusastore.com/subaru-forester/side-visor-forester-08-12-xetz2 what're your thoughts?
  3. So, my other half's father just accidentally snapped my super rare, extremely difficult to find OEM one piece wind deflectors on my SF5 STi. I'm here in the vain hope that somebody here knows where I can get some replacements? Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
  4. Unfortunately it's not the rarer type M, it's the auto, which is a pretty rare car in itself to be fair. Not sure of numbers though. It came with all the same trimmings as the Type M (red stitches on wheel, sti speedo cluster, interior etc) and internal upgrades only minus the 5sp manual gearbox. The previous owner has had it remapped so it pulls like a train!
  5. Mine is a 2001 post facelift SF5 which has the different front and rear end (squarer lights and grill) than yours. I actually prefer the look of yours, it's far more aggressive, but it was a little out the price range. Going by pictures on the web, the load area inside the car looks to be the same shape. I guess I'll need to try them out and see. Yeah, the pull out cover for the load bay. I also think that the connection points in the boot are the same but I'd probably need to see the SG next to the SF to compare. How long have you owned your STi? Are there any places you'd recommend for parts?
  6. Cheers Dave! Nice motor yourself. Perhaps you could help me with a query: How similar is my boot space to yours? I'm attempting to get myself a boot liner, dog guard and tonneau cover but finding it more difficult to come across ones for the 97-02 (SF) cars compared to the early 02-04 (SG). Please excuse me if I've got the models/years wrong, I'm still learning ;)
  7. My journeys are normally fairly short with the occasional B-road blast here and there. I'm sure the novelty will wear off...eventually. I'm currently running it on Sainsburys Super unleaded which people either like or dislike. So far I've found it to be fine, although i've not tried the others.
  8. It's got 55k on it and it's pristine. All the documentation is there, albeit in Japanese. I thought the same about the price. I done my research before buying and I saw others with similar mileage for around the original asking price. I've not worked out the mpg's, as I've yet to have a week where I've not had the figures skewed by taking it for a spirited drive the long way home. I reckon it's in the low 20's at the moment though, probably 23/24. What do you average in the Outback?
  9. It is an auto, and it's my first, so it's taking a little getting used to. I find that the accelerator has a three stage process: Lightly depressed: Gets moving but leisurely. Moderately depressed: Car picks up pace but without the need of the turbo. Foot to the door: A second delay as the car kicks down then it just takes off. It's a little hard to regulate to a gradual build up of speed (rather than a sudden burst of chaos) to be honest but I'm getting used to it. The car has had an Ecutek remap which has taken it up to 285bhp (approx) and there's very little, to no, turbo lag whatsoever, other than the initial kickdown of the auto box. This is especially apparent when driving at motorway speeds and going to overtake! I've never experienced something so fridge-shaped carve its way through the air like it does. I've found that the car is best when taking it slow and steady, mainly so I can enjoy the glances from people passing it in the street and them wondering what it is. The car was advertised at £6500 from a local Subaru Garage. I paid £4500 after trading in my old car (immaculate 04 Toyota Celica VVTL-i with 60k), them waiving/paying the Credit Card fee, as well as 6 months warranty and 6 months Tax. Do you think I got an all right deal or did I overpay?
  10. I've just recently purchased my first Subaru and thought I'd make my way around the various boards and chime in with a quick hello, showing off the ol' boy in the process. Looking forward to contributing and using the forum. Cheers!
