  1. Interesting...Guess its to discourage people from buying high emission cars in the first place. That's the only conclusion I can draw from the proposal. Going to be cheap to tax a second hand scooby in 2020 though 😂 140bucks! http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/88369/car-tax-bands-what-you-need-to-know
  2. I am still learning as I go along so please correct me if I'm wrong, but surely the idea of either method is to set the spring rate so that you release only just the right amount of air? Therefore (in theory of course) it shouldnt matter where the excess air actually goes? The amount of pressure released depends on how long the valve is open when the vacuum is created inside the manifold after the throttle is shut. Whether the section of pipe is 2m or 0.25m can you not adjust the time the valve is open to achieve the 'perfect' back pressure under hard boost? In a longer section of pipe the valve would need to be closed quicker to release less air and maintain the pressure? Where the excess air goes plays no part in maintaining pressure on the turbo side. Unfortunately not, WRXS still has a crappy small top mount. I won't be going front mount route. Not anytime soon anyway. Not looking at that kind of power...yet 😜 If anything I quite like the look of the process west verticooler. Not sure if it's a bit of a gimmick or not though. Plus it's !Removed! expensive.
  3. So running with your front mount you get better performance running it in full recirc...interesting. Was that the way it was when your car was mapped? Does your car still use a MAF sensor? I can see that the advantages are greater with a front mount as there will be more volume of trapped air in the longer pipework. Yeah it's not a cheap bit of kit...was hoping to pick up a second hand one but haven't seen one in the 6 months I've been looking so will probably end up buying it new. Where you get yours? Tarmac sportz?
  4. Yeah that makes sense also. Think if I get the GFB Respons I'll just go 50/50 😂 Can't go wrong that way.
  5. Yeah I love the noise 👍 Cant see how there would be much difference on spooling time. Fundamentally doing the same thing which is releasing any back pressure on the turbo wheel to stop it 'slowing down' (allows it to continue spinning quickly therefore less lag when boost applied). Maybe someone with more knowledge will correct me. Guess vent to atmosphere might do it fractional quicker because there will be no back pressure in any hoses??
  6. Good question. I'm looking at fitting one in the spring. Looking at the GFB Respons that Sandals is running. Car will be getting remap after fitting so my questions: Are there any performance advantage to recirc or vent? Obviously more noise with a vent to atmosphere but is there performance loss despite tuning? Surely it's better to get rid of the hot air from the system rather than reintroduce it to the 'cold inlet'?
  7. @savage bulldogs haha sorry you're right carbon metallic 👍 Mine are the same only make noise when reversing out the drive. Very occasionally when cold and lightly pressing the pedal. Scary moment for you. Glad no one was hurt. !Removed! Audi drivers!
  8. @mattiekane check out Godspeed. http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/180-impreza-2001-2007-sti I've recently put on GHook disc and PFC pads. Not had a chance to really give them a thrashing but seem great. Pads are ceramic so small amount of squeaking when using lightly and cold as expected.
  9. Ive recently put the eibach anti roll bars on with Perrin Endlinks. Makes a massive difference. Much more controlled. The body roll was started to bug me. Eibach kit is 25mm front 22mm rear both adjustable. Whiteline have some available as well with good range in sizes. Remember with Endlinks different bushings have pros and cons. I've gone for polyurethane ones instead of spherical. Not as strong but for a daily driver I think they are perfect with no noise. Good guide here: https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2462278 I also got alignment done with more negative camber dialled in on the front as well.
  10. Spoke to Ian at Godspeed (who sold me the discs) He is confident that if it was a warped disc i would feel a wobble at all speeds, not just high up. I have no reason to doubt him. My understanding is that he is the man that knows about breaks. Had the alignment and balancing done at a repuatable garage that use all singing all dancing hunter equipment. Have phoned them and they are happy to recheck them for me. Is the balancing equipment not able to identify a slight buckle?
  11. To be clearer... 1. Had no wobble 2. Fitted new brakes etc. Ran old alloys with **** spacers. Had bad wobble. 3. Took old alloys and spacers off. New alloys on, no spacers. Wheels balanced and aligned. Still have wobble though doesn't seem as bad but that could be in my head 🙃 So jack the car up and make sure wheel isn't wobbling to check wheel bearings Agree with you that the ARB's and Endlinks are unlikely to cause this. Discs came from Godspeed which have excellent reputation. Is there a way of checking for warped discs?
  12. Haha indeed that is the current solution 😂. Guess the only way I would know is if I took them back yeah? Point to add. I had no wobble previously. Then I was running my old alloys with spacers for a week and that's when the wobble appeared. I thought it was the spacers as they were not hubcentric. Wobble is better now they are off the car but still there between those speeds.
  13. Looking for a bit of advise. Got a wobble in the steering wheel between 70-85mph. Recently put new ARB's and endlinks on front and rear, Brembos on the front with new discs, wider alloys and new tyres. Had all the alignment done and wheels balanced. Any suggestions??
  14. Aucky go for the invidia N1 😜 I was looking at the single for mine, resonated version. Sounds so good on the videos on YouTube. Build quality looks great as well. Unfortunately my mid section went before I had the funds together so ended up with just a 2.5" Hayward and Scott mid section. Some reviews on here: https://www.rallysportdirect.com/brand/invidia I've bought my Perrin Endlinks from TarmacSportz with no issues at all.
  15. De-greased, full wash then waxed the new wheels. Complete with a blast round Loch Lomond 👍
  16. Finally got the crappy spacers off and the new Speedline PFF7 alloys on 👍 New PZeros on the front and alignment sorted! Highly recommend Autotec in Port Glasgow for any of you Glasgow way.
  17. A shame I just bought a set last week. Hope you get them shifted.

    PFF7's

Appreciate that buddy 😉 Getting mine fitted this week 👍
  19. I've got a WRX-S it's meant to run 265bhp standard and as far as I know it's just got a Prodrive backbox, only 1 cat in the down pipe instead of the two, and has had a Prodrive map compared to the standard WRX. Someone else may be able to correct me. I've added a 2.5" h&s stainless midpipe cause it need changed and wanted to keep the Prodrive backbox...added a good bit of rasp. In spring I'll be installing walbro 255 fuel pump, fuelab pressure regulator, gfb respons BOV, 3 port boost solenoid and a Perrin cold air intake. Then a remap by Andy Forrest. Will be interesting to see what it gets maybe 280/290?
  20. I've not started increasing the power on mine yet as I have started with the brakes and suspension. Will be interested to see how you get on though. First stop I guess would be to speak with whoever you plan on getting the car mapped by. I'm hoping to get mine done by Andy Forrest next year. Get their opinion on the best upgrades and what products they are happy to use during mapping.
  21. Cheers buddy appreciate that. Those litchfield handling packs are an interesting find. I wondering if they would give me their settings 🤔 Yeah new arb's on but not had a chance to get out with them yet.
  22. Did a bit of research and decided that was the size that would suit me best. Gives great turn in feel, very flat, but does give a bit of understeer when corning very fast. Could have gone 22mm/22mm offered by other manufacturers to get rid of the understeer but for a daily driver it's the flat feeling that I was really after. Was sick of it feeling like a boat 😂
  23. Eibach ARBs are 25mm on the front 22mm at the back. Set on the stiffest setting at the back, softest on the front. Yeah the calipers were in great condition considering they are second hand. Just gave them a good clean 👍
  24. Got some chunky Eibach ARB's installed with Perrin endlinks front and rear, Gold STI Brembos on the front with PFC pads, Godspeed G-hook discs and Technik braided hoses all round. Also managed to pick up a set of Prodrive PFF7 alloys in Anthracite.
  25. A few photos of the motor.
