Hatchback fmic needed
Hey and welcome. I was struggling to find parts etc on any of the forums purely cause the hatches just aren’t as popular. Recently joined up to a Facebook hatchback members group (Subaru Impreza Hatchback Owners Club) and is another great group of folks all with hatches in common. Could try across there if you have no luck on here.

WRX-S Suspension
Morning all. Was changing the rear brakes on my WRX-S at the weekend there and noticed that my drivers side rear spring has snapped at the bottom. About 2/3rds of the bottom ring has sheared off. Looking to see if anyone has done some suspension upgrades and what options I have. Probably not looking to go down the coilovers route though. Is it worth just changing the spring and leaving the struts or would it be better to get a new strut as well. Car has done 85,000miles. Would I need to do both rears?

Tyre advice 09 WRX-S
Happy New Year to all. Looking to change all 4 tyres on the WRX-S and was thinking of going from a 225/40/18 up to a 235/40/18? Car is running with 18x8 PFF7’s so will fit the alloy just cautious about the clearance on the inside edge? Is anybody running this setup / can offer some sound advice?

How many miles per gallon are you getting?
There is a trip A and a trip B for mileage. When you change between them/reset them to zero the mpg also changes/resets.

How many miles per gallon are you getting?
I’m driving WRX-S like you are. Standard engine just a stainless mid section on the exhaust. I’ll get about 28.8mpg sitting at 60-70mph, 25.5mpg at 75-80mph. Driving around the city I can get as low as 17mpg. So totally depends what you’re doing with it.

Is there a way to send someone a video of exhaust noise on here?

Newage parts Bugeye, Blobeye, Hawkeye
Ah ok seems to be the earlier model not the T9001 required for my car. Out of interest though why you getting rid of it? You say you don't like vta but the whole point in that bov is that it's completely adjustable so can be used as a full recirc valve no??

Newage parts Bugeye, Blobeye, Hawkeye
Do you still have your respons bov available?? Do you know what's model it is? Whether it will fit a 2009 WRX.

This is pretty tempting. What you changing to buddy? Does this fit straight to standard downpipe?

Any interesting parts for an 09 WRX Hatchback
Currently looking for: - GFB Respons dump valve - Fuelab fuel pressure regulator - 3-port boost solenoid (preferably Grimmspeed or Perrin) - Master brake cylinder brace - Black Brembo calipers from STI hatch (REAR only) - Any silicone hoses / hose kits that will fit - Possibly 3" to 2.5" sport cat downpipe - Possibly Up-pipe

Any interesting parts for an 09 WRX Hatchback
Thanks for getting back to me with this. I actually already have a 2.5" hayward and scott mid section on the car. Makes a nice difference in sound compared to the resonated standard one. I have stuck with the prodrive backbox at the moment mainly because i wanted to keep the car as 'authentic' as possible. Also wasnt that keen on cutting the bumper for the dual/quad exit tailpipes. Let me know if you have anyything else in the future.

I was looking at this before I bought my alloys. Still not sure of the answer but on this website might help you out. http://opposedforces.com/parts/impreza/en_g12/type_20/suspension_and_axle/front_axle/illustration_1/

Downpipe yes or no?
Looking to get my hatch remapped in the spring and was wondering if it is worth getting a decent downpipe fitted? Will have to have a sports cat for mot so not full decat. I had heard they can really change the characteristics of the car. Don't want to ruin it. What's the thoughts/experiences on here? Also any preferences on design? Bellmouth or divorced, cat at the top or near the bottom?

Traction Control won't turn off - 2008 STI
You tried pressing it with the ignition turned off? I seem to remember mine doing something similar and I can only change mine with the ignition off or on the first stage. Just a thought.

2010 WRX-S Backbox replacement - Not to loud!
I put a new stainless mid section on mine - gets rid of the resonator and you get to kept the car 'authentic' with the prodrive backbox. Added a bit of noise on idle and sounds much better than stock with some revs. H&S from Scoobyworld. I'll stick a vid up for you when I'm back from offshore next week if you like?

Steering Wobble
No been offshore since 28th. Should be back mid Jan. Got a few things to try as suggested on here and I contacted the garage I used to balance so they said they would look at them and the alignment again when I'm back. Hopefully it's a quick, easy and inexpensive fix. January is always a tight month and got snowboarding to be doing at this time of year.

Keep us posted on your fabrication activities then. Yeah my turbo is just bolted straight onto the inter cooler as far as I'm aware. I'm actually not to sure what turbo it is. Been trying to find that out. Over in the states the 08 WRX runs a TD04 but got changed in 09 to a IHI VF52. Not 100% sure if that's the same in the UK. Pretty sure the WRX-S runs the same turbo as the standard WRX though. Not actually had a look at mine. Probably in spring when weather gets better. Might do the uppipe and downpipe. Not sure yet though. Anyone know if the hatchbacks have a carted uppipe? I hate that thought.

Changes to car tax coming??
Interesting...Guess its to discourage people from buying high emission cars in the first place. That's the only conclusion I can draw from the proposal. Going to be cheap to tax a second hand scooby in 2020 though 😂 140bucks! http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/88369/car-tax-bands-what-you-need-to-know

Dump valve
I am still learning as I go along so please correct me if I'm wrong, but surely the idea of either method is to set the spring rate so that you release only just the right amount of air? Therefore (in theory of course) it shouldnt matter where the excess air actually goes? The amount of pressure released depends on how long the valve is open when the vacuum is created inside the manifold after the throttle is shut. Whether the section of pipe is 2m or 0.25m can you not adjust the time the valve is open to achieve the 'perfect' back pressure under hard boost? In a longer section of pipe the valve would need to be closed quicker to release less air and maintain the pressure? Where the excess air goes plays no part in maintaining pressure on the turbo side. Unfortunately not, WRXS still has a crappy small top mount. I won't be going front mount route. Not anytime soon anyway. Not looking at that kind of power...yet 😜 If anything I quite like the look of the process west verticooler. Not sure if it's a bit of a gimmick or not though. Plus it's !Removed! expensive.

So running with your front mount you get better performance running it in full recirc...interesting. Was that the way it was when your car was mapped? Does your car still use a MAF sensor? I can see that the advantages are greater with a front mount as there will be more volume of trapped air in the longer pipework. Yeah it's not a cheap bit of kit...was hoping to pick up a second hand one but haven't seen one in the 6 months I've been looking so will probably end up buying it new. Where you get yours? Tarmac sportz?

Yeah that makes sense also. Think if I get the GFB Respons I'll just go 50/50 😂 Can't go wrong that way.

Dump valve
Yeah I love the noise 👍 Cant see how there would be much difference on spooling time. Fundamentally doing the same thing which is releasing any back pressure on the turbo wheel to stop it 'slowing down' (allows it to continue spinning quickly therefore less lag when boost applied). Maybe someone with more knowledge will correct me. Guess vent to atmosphere might do it fractional quicker because there will be no back pressure in any hoses??
