  1. Well, the time has come to get a bit bigger car to run the kids about with bikes etc. Been looking at Renault Grand Scenic (7seater) and Foresters (non turbo) Pricing around the £2k price mark.. but most have 100k+ miles on... some with service history and most with non. Then while in Ibiza last week I spotted a 2002 SF on AutoTrader ... it had little info other than in Silver with 39k miles!!!!!! yes THIRTY NINE THOUSAND!!! Got home on Thursday afternoon and come Friday afternoon I'd been over to Lincoln to have a look at it. It was mint... :) interior looked like no one had sat in it, need my detailing on the paint work and engine bay.. only bad bit is the diamond polished alloys are starting to get the crows feet lines under the lacquer. (I may look at refurb to smarten them up). Told the wife I wanted to put a deposit on it... and lets say all of Friday wasn't made easy for me... we had a few words over it :( But I did manager to ring and put a deposit down.. still with the wife fuming.. and said I'd be over Sunday to show her what it was like. So, been over today.. she was coming round to the idea of the forester, but still annoyed with me :( Having now seen it she likes it and thinks its a peachy buy :) One owner from new .. full service stamps.. most main dealer, but the local main dealer closes so after that it was all at another garage. I'm chuffed, a few things to sort out but looking to pick up at the weekend :) I'm quite excited about it, it drove lovely.. nothing like the 330s of course lol It has not squeaks or rattles, AC is cold and inside is immaculate, found out it's last service was at 39k in March this year.. winner.
  2. have you a link to a good kit I could but then get my guy at the garage we use for our 'normal' cars to fit? is it this one? http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/timing-belt-kit/blue-print-ads77309_g307_a350ADS77309.html the STi 330s.. still goes to the main dealer... just in case ;) lol
  3. cus she thought i'd put a deposit down without asking her (well I nearly did but it wasn't worth the hassle) so I told her to get approval.. which took some time as she was fuming with me I wanted to buy another car when we have more important things to spend money on. I said we need a bigger car so it's something for the family to enjoy ;) now it's the cam belt question that's going round in her head.. has it been done or not in 2013 ... if not why not.... how can we tell, etc etc. The car has only 39k miles on it!!!!!!!! seeing it again in the morning so will go through the sericve book and find out when/who did the 2013 service and try and ring them to find out. is it an expensive job to have done if we find it;s not been done?
  4. I found one...deposit paid.. taking the wife to see it tomorrow (I saw it yesterday) she's not too happy with me :( 2002 Forester sport (non Turbo) low miles, loads of history. Mint
  5. both then lol what's the model varients I see XE XT XTE XC
  6. can you show me some SF ones then that look good?? Is auto box a problem? My Fiat Punto is a Speedgear and TBH pottering about Auto is so much nicer to be doing town driving. so a Forester would be better condition than a Blob estate for the same year?
  7. tnx guys, what does SF and SG mean? tbh.. I do 1500 miles a year, so something 100k miles if in great condition isn't going to get much wear from me. lol I want something to look of too.
  8. Thinking of getting rid of my Fiat Punto and getting a cheap run about Forester.. what should I be looking out for? what does £500-£1000 get you £1500 get you.. then upto £2k get you.. are they all sheds? can you get a bargain on a used Forester that's in good nick and and not with stupid 120k+ miles!!! tell me what you know.
  9. I swapped the std STi springs for the PRODRIVE Ebach's springs that give a 10mm drop all round. But when I'm on my 'normal' Prodrive GT2 alloys... 19" the car sits very well. These are just a winter set of STi alloys I picked up on Ebay a few years back, I run them over winter. Last year (2015-16) I didn't swap them over and we had snow. This year end of Nov I swapped them.. no snow! Think I'll keep them on this summer though (they're not winter tyres) as I need a couple of 245/35/19 tyres... and not sure what to go for, so will keep these on for a change over the summer. Car does drive better on 17s though lol
  10. Give them a ring at HTautos http://htautos.co.uk/product-category/08-10-hatchback/ I think they will fit just like they do on my STi
  11. if you get a Terzo you want it standard and it will be a collectors car. ... liek buying a Catalynia (not sure on spelling of that lol) Not like above.. too much done to it.... IMO
  12. I think these will be pcd114 if they're off a 2011 STi as pictures above.. not pcd100 (that would be a 2008-11 WRX)
  13. I found my STi front strut brace made a difference on handling on my Sti. Rally Day-121 by FIL, on Flickr
  14. mine, on cold... (ie:after few few days - cold) is half way in the bottle, I've put a marker pen mark against the water line) when engine is hot, obviously the water is higher up in the bottle (expansion) some times its a little below the line by a few mm. Keep your eye on it, I'd be more worried if you loose the bottle after drive,
  15. Keith Michaels.... just don't try and ring the day before. they are busy. You need to speak directly to Gary Moulson... so keep ringing and prestering lol once you get sorted with a QUOTE ME HAPPY from him, they send a renewal out a couple of weeks before .... every year its come down with them. £370 FCp on my 330s with declared mods :)
  16. we need some inside and outside pix :)
  17. I like that, did you know www.m-soc.com members get discount at Tarmacsportz as well :) are you a paid member on there too?
  18. you may be better asking on the Hatch thread on SN, http://www.scoobynet.com/763923-08-09-hatches-stand-up-and-show-yourselves-503.html but i think you have sports# mapped. not sure what you do with the other two, unless you have those done as a separate map. who will be mapping your car?
  19. I was joking about the 3in1 and lube on the nuts :)
  20. SC will do what's needed, I've loads of good friends who use them with top motors. Non of whom would use them if they were being ripped off.
  21. For a while I've wanted to swap my OE chrome wheel nuts to something better as they are starting to look tired. After seeing the write ups about alloy nuts sheering off I knew I wanted quality. The only ones to go for are McGard - obviously IMO. When I went to the International Autosports show at the NEC earlier this year I came across the McGard stand, where I soon asked about their wheel nuts for my Subaru STi 330s which I wanted in Black. A deal was hammered out for a FULL set (inc wheel locking nut) of the Black Edition that were subaru fitment. Today I've had chance to fit them. So here you go with an idiots guide to swapping your OE ones for the new Black Edition's. Start with removing the OE locking nut to be on the safe side use some lube/oil so you can get them off either next time round 1st one fitted. 2nd one will be the opposite side, then the 3rd opposite to that one. 4th & 5th again done as opposing sides like doing the ones previous Don't forget to Torque them up to just a shade under 100Nm I just need to full detail my car now ready for the show season ;)
  22. more lemons than anything else, rusty wheel arches... and don't forget they'll all be over 300bhp!! ;)
  23. hello and welcome. for that money you are looking at £1500 sheds!! you'll spend more fixing, taxing and insuring it in the first twelve months. and put it another way I paid £1300 4 years ago for a 52plate Fiat Punto Sporting with 58k miles!! personally.. you don't want to spend less than £5k for a classic, then make sure you know where it came from. remember the bank loan is your friend
  24. does look good in black
  25. dead easy then doing it that way. ;)
