December 27, 201411 yr Hi, i just had a forester key go down, so i changed the battery. but it still not working, does it need re-coding or is there something else?
December 27, 201411 yr What alarm system ? Sigma !? If still not working after battery change you could try reprogramming & if that fails then will need pick up another fob. January 4, 201511 yr Author its the original keys, and i've asked at the garage, and they've said it shouldn't need re coding. so is there another weakness in the keys that it could be? anyone had a similar issue? i've checked the battery and the key, and no obvious damage, so i'm at a loss.
January 4, 201511 yr You mention keys. Are neither of them working? Probably a silly comment, but is the new battery inserted correctly. Negative side up.
January 4, 201511 yr What year forester, what alarm system ! as said generally fobs don't need reprogramming due to battery change. I have experienced on more than one occasion a fob not working as got itself out of sequence with the alarm due to weak battery & needed new battery & reprogram. If both fobs an issue then possibly receiver on alarm or main alarm ecu fault but reprogramming could be worth a go as first step.
January 4, 201511 yr Dont let your remote get cold or you will have problem unlocking your car. Took me 20 button presses to finally get my forester unlocked. Works perfect when not cold.
