Scooby Pete
Just the usual stuff. When looking at any car. Make sure it has a full service history. For the age the car it shouldn't have any issues, bushes and bearings etc would be fine unless extremely high mileage. Same with suspension gearbox etc. I don't have any issues with my 08 and haven't had to do anything except regular maintainence, I have replaced the tyres as they were worn when I got it. And the Wiper Blades. That's it. Pretty sure Salsa and Jay will pop along and share the ownership experiences. Might be worth posting the ad here so we can have a gander. There are basicly 2 versions of the Hatch STI. Type UK. The "standard STI" 290 bhp 17" wheels. There was an option for a Prodrive performance pack which changed the exhaust back box and centre section plus a remap to 330bhp. A few of these came with 5 spoke 18" alloys 330s: same as the Type UK. 330 bhp. 18" alloys, Recaro seats, factory Sat Nav, electronic push button start. There prob a few things I've missed off though, I'm sure someone will point out my errors :)

Gambit
I will be lucky if it's under 3 grand when I renew in April Wow you're now the highest I have ever seen anyone paying for insurance :o I thought my brother was off his head after he pranged his skyline twice and was paying £2800. But fair play to you mate only live once and can't take it with ya ;)
JusNoGood
If it makes you feel better I met a 26 year old with a M3. He paid £1k deposit and then was in the process of paying 10 x £450 monthly instalments!! He said a Scoob would have been similar. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to find out what on earth he had done to deserve a premium like that ....but then watching him drive like a nutter through the tiny industrial estate with tight blind bends I've got an idea

I remember having an Escort GTI and paying £780 ad think that was a lot :( But in today money I'd say still not as much as your's but was a lot. Gambit
I pay 670 for my impreza. Mines not much less I can get it cheaper but I like my insurance company :) They did say to me they don't really insure my type of cars as it's classed as a sports car. But they still do it and I can walk in and moan at them if I want :)

Scoobyghost
My insurance allows for stage one mods. Told him I wanted cat back panel filter and remap he said that's fine just let us know when but it won't change my premium.

Scooby Pete
My 1st quotes on my classic were around 2k that was when I was in my early 30s, full no claims bound aswell. All the underwriters said my lack off experience with powerful cars increased the premium. Luckily Tescos mis-quoted me @ £750 as he only looked at UK cars, even though every time I mentioned the car I stated it was an import. Played hardball with Tescos and got them to honour the quote. 2nd year was £1100 with Keith Michaels covering all mods. I have been with them for over 10 years now.
