New guy - advice needed.

Good evening all. I'm hoping to soon be the owner of a WRX, but need some guidance, I have spotted this one local to me, and feel like going to have a look. From the advert it doesn't seem like the dealer knows much about the car. From what I can tell it appears to have been lowered, which hasn't been mentioned. Can anyone with more knowledge tell me what is on this car that's not standard? Obviously wheels, exhaust, spoiler, but anything under the bonnet, brakes etc?

Also, it's a Cat C, is this anything to worry about? And am I right in thinking this is over priced, even for autotrader dealer standards?

Hello welcome,

Looks like it's on standard suspension so it's either had lowering springs or it's just the illusion of the bigger wheels filling the arches, as for brakes can't really tell, it's got some silicone hoses in there but. Can't ŕeally see much else. With it being written off you'd need to make sure it had the paperwork to prove it's been rebuilt properly and is safe. May have a problem when insuring it.

Yes in my opinion it's very over priced especially seeing it's been written off. Cambelt will need doing soon if it's only had the one 7 years ago ! That's about 400 from a specialist double if you speak to subaru.

I'd walk away there are plenty of better examples at lower money.

Thanks for the replies, very useful. Because of how local it is I may go and take a look simply so I can use if as a point of reference, but my head is definitely telling me to walk away, especially at that price.

When I bought my first impreza I jumped in with my heart ignoring my head and I got burnt big time. Ended up having to replace the engine and even then had issues so I sold up and sunk a lot of money. Learned a very valuable lesson. This time I searched and I waited. There is no harm in that. Cars find drivers so sit tight and you won't go wrong.

Cheers guys. You've all confirmed my suspicions, and will steer clear. I've still got time before I want to upgrade anyway, so plenty of time for searching for the right one.

Further afield isn't a problem, it's just finding time with work. Happy to up my budget for the right car, but only after a 10+ year old wrx, so shouldn't need to go my higher
