Hi all

So My question is ;

Do people still do vnyl wraps on their Scoobys ?

When i was younger i used to see lots of cars with wraps and vnyls (the whole tokyo drift culture)

But now i have not seen a single car with anything on it.

I want to get an anime sytle wrap or a DC or Marvel style wrap

I know in Japan its the done thing (was there a few months ago and i couldnt find a non wrapped scooby or race car)

What are the views on this here in the uk ?

Looks good that mate, I think the problem is there is a select few in the uk nowadays that have managed to become keyboard warriors on the internet, and get some amusement about belittling peoples cars if it doesn't go with the grain of their taste as to what cars should look like. WRC stickers being the biggest target. But I know blokes well into their 50's that still have stickers on the cars, and really doesn't bother me I like to see everyones choices of cars taste, I think it should always be a personal thing a car, otherwise we end up being all the same. :) I've seen a few of the Hulk design cars around here but don't really see anything else now a days. We had a guy from Japan about a year ago who lives in Sheffield he had a full anime design on his Scoob looked good. So I'd say we do have a few about but not many, so I'd do it if thats what you want to do, stop the UK roads being dull and boring with standard looking cars :D

I have a thought about it as a colour change and to protect the paintwork as this car is in really good condition.

I would say go for it if you like it. You will stand out at meets and have a car people talk about.

Remember it's not what other people think of your car its what you think to it. If it makes you happy your doing it right.

Thanks for the support guys

I think i will get it done, since i always wanted it done and it would look stupid on my family car, this is my car so i should do what i want :)

I like anime, star wars so i may do something like that when i buy it.

I wonder what it will do to my insurance quote, i am getting around 1.2K fully comp on the standard unmodified car, yikes thats expensive for insurance

Have you looked into specialist insurance companies? I was quoted £1300 from a comparison site and found a price for half of that from specialist.

Can you name me any of the insurance companies

Adrian Flux have quoted £3k with a change to alloy wheels and spoiler

Unchanged its around £1100 now that i have called to confirm

The problem is now no one does insurance for vinyl wraps, they all stated that they would decline the insurance if any stickers even the WRC ones were put on it !

I have phoned 4 major insurers :

Adrian flux, privilege, My motor quote  and Churchill

everyone is stating that its a performance enhancing mod !

Some wraps look good some look maff it's all down to personal taste, if you like it that's all that matters.

If you get the stance and wheels looking right wraps really compliment some cars.

One of my all time fave scoobs was wrapped.

Regards insurance try Keith Micheals, they specialise in modified cars and a lot of my local club memebers including myself use them. They don't charge the earth and are a good company to deal with.

Have a look at green light insurance mate. They gave me my all time lowest price to date. I just stuck with the NFU because I've been with them for so long.

Thanks will give them a call on monday lunch time and see what they quote me, no one does insurance on just wrapping kinda annoying.

Sad news :(

No insurance company will insure the car with Vinyl

All the specialist insurers require the car to be owned and driven for a year before they can insure me

Adrian Flux have quoted £3100 with vinyl and a £3000 excess !!

Churchill and privilege are both £1000 fully comp  for the car undecorated !
