ChrisD
Hey guys, Now I have my 03 Blob on the road I am trying to get used to the petrol situation. being the fist car i have had that needs premium how do you guys know where to go for it? it's a pain and a worry thinking where I'm going to get my next 'fix', any advice? can I get away with an 'in case of emergency' octane booster (and do i just tip it in or is there a special way of mixing? also car is going to be re-map so its even more important to stick to the good stuff. Thanks for your help guys !
stants
Vpower only for me and a lot of us, tests and sainsbury if no vpower around i'm lucky I have 6 Shell stations in leeds all supplying the good stuff. Download the Shell app will let you know where your local ones are. I'm lucky had a 2nd emergency map put on mine so if I'm ever stuck I can chuck in what ever fuel I can get and not worry
ChrisD
I am having mine re-mapped in 2 weeks ish, is it worth asking for this when I go? and Thanks Stants, I will get the app :) I have one not far away, but still learning where the rest are as i have never had to look for them before ! stants
Depends on what your having ecutek I guess ? I have an els board as ecutek isn't available for mine, so I don't know how many maps you can have, who's doing the mapping ? Once you know where they are you'll be sorted. stants
Any reason you have chosen sc ? Duncan @ racedynamix will come to you and has good results with newage cars. Couple of members have had some negative experiences with sc
ChrisD
ahh ... maybe I will give him a call then. I hadn't looked too much into it. i just presumed they had a good rep. Thanks again for the advice :)

matmidgley
I was going to use duncan, until he told me he had dates in march then silence then ignored messages so I gave up and went to andy carr saved £330 in the process also
ChrisD
for the ECUTEK ? SC have quoted me 660 (Inclusive of VAT) The sheffield subaru services (Kev) were the ones who recomended the SC

ChrisD
have emailed duncan as there was no answer on the phone. so is it safe to so a open source re-map? is it not worth the difference in cost for the security ?
stants
Basically it's the same but you don't have to pay a licence fee. Should be fine if you get someone who knows what there doing ie a professional
Scoobyghost
I'm booked in with Duncan on 16th April. He does seem very busy and rarely answers the phone but I leave a text and he gets back to me the same/next day.

JusNoGood
To answer your original question...similar to Stants. I always use VPower and have the app. I have three shells near me. As a tank does about 300 miles Ive never had the need to put in anything else....get to quarter full and you have about 75 miles to find a Shell. I recommend Duncan
ChrisD
Thanks man, I have dropped him a message. In contact as we speak. I suppose I just need to relax a bit more!

Ash007ks
No one at Sheffield subaru services is called kev?? And for the love of God do not go to scooby clinic, the biggest rip of merchants ever and you have to sign a contract that states any faults they find they can fix before giving your car back, area 52, Gr or Duncan are the best
ChrisD
Thanks Ash :) Sorry my mistake, I mean Kev being the guy at Scooby Clinic, Getting muddled up. who is Gr? speaking to duncan, just waiting to hear back from him, problem is I am looking for it to be done before i go to POD on the 19th, which is a bit of a squeeze for Duncan to fit me in. will see what i can work out.
