Best clutch for classics.

Recommended Posts

Just to mention, my clutch is fine and shows no sign of wearing out anytime soon.

My main question is "when" the time comes for a clutch replacement is there a best clutch for my car. It's a turbo 2000 UK. I'm not after a paddle clutch but I would be keen on an uprated kit.

I had a quick search on the forum but couldn't find anything specific to my question. Hope you guys can help out [emoji4] Much love!

Scooby clinic recon the blue will take 350bhp but i'd move up to tge pink for peice of mind, considering it's a ig job no point doing it twice, I'm sure the pink below 300 will be fine it's just more expensive, both the same type, just think the compounds are different

Just get the 5 speed classic, think it's a pull type but don't hold me to that

Fair do. Reason being is I've seen a bit of oil on the box. It smells like gearbox oil and my mech thinks its input shaft(I have no idea) but if the box is coming off for that I'll be doing the clutch at the same time to save doing it again any time soon.

Just to add there is nothing wrong with a paddle clutch.Mine behaves well. The good side of this paddle clutch is if im gonna launch it the clutch will last.Ours is a daily driver as well.I think is a lot of bullsh*t about paddle clutches on the internet

Pink box is probably the way to go 5 speed ones are rated to 400hp 6 speed pink boxes are rated to a bit more due to the slightly bigger dia .

Just make sure you buy it from a reputable dealer about £280 as there was a few cheaper copies floating about on eBay .

I've always had the flywheel skimmed (about £30) changed the driveshaft/propshaft seals (about £30 for all 3)

And changed the spigot bearing in the centre of the fly wheel (about £8)

Plus fresh gearbox oil and downpipe gaskets [emoji6]

Downpipe gasket just been done. This isn't a job that's getting done soon as it's not showing any signs of slipping but should the box need to come out it will all be getting done.

I appreciate all the help guys! I'm swaying more to the pink box just in case I ever increase the power more. Don't want to have to strip it all again for the sake of the extra pay out first time round.
