Electronic power steering is the future .I wonder if the new Subaru has it

Yeah they are all moving away From it due to cost and lower emmissions, not driven anything with it installed

Ive driven a lot of Vags and Renos and some Vauxhalls and its very light.

Have you got a donor system to drop in ?

My punto has electric power steering. With a funky city button that made it lighter. That was on a 2000 year car.

One day it went. Was doing 70mph on a long right hand bend and without warning I lost all power steering. For a light car the shock of suddenly having to fight the steering almost put me off the road.

All current Kias have electric steering, and the latest ones have buttons to select a range of "feel", according to personal preference or driving conditions. My Kia has just the basic electric steering, and feels great. The C4 I had before was the same.
