Hi Everyone, I'm having a miniature nightmare this evening.

i currently cannot lock or start my SG 04 forester.

i unlocked the car at work with the fob, drove to the dentists, 40 miles away (dont ask) when i got out i trird to open the boot, its a bit sticky, so locked and unlocked the car opened the boot, then when i went to lock it again, nothing. I left the car unlocked and went to the dentist, now im back at the car and i cant get it to start as the fob wont work, i borrowed a Battery out a working key, but still no luck!

I have all the hand books and the 8 digit key code card, but no idea what the 4 digit immobiliser code is. Has anyone had this problem before? I would try the spare key but its an hour and a half away at my house!

Help.

Arrgh ! Don't suppose your parked near a radio mast/ telecoms or substation ? These all play havoc with the alarm

This is for older models but the sigma alarm hasn't changed much in operation may be of some use

No radio masts to be seen, what a pain, is it definitely a 4 digit number for the code? I'm tempted to call out the green flag, but my fear is I will just get towed to a garage and will still be miles from home.

Thanks for the link, I had found the original post prior to pleeding on here, but alass no pin.

Spare key is on its way, thanks to one irate girlfriend, I believe the words, "why did you buy such a stupid car" were used on the phone, so fingers crossed when it arrives every thing will work... Hopefully I've not broken anything with my attempts to get it working.

Thanks Stants for the help last night, luckily my girlfriend loves me enough to relay the spare key to my dad, who then brought it out the rest of the way, first blip, turned the key no drama, however the first key appears to be FUBAR. Is the only way to get spare keys direct from Subaru? I'm now terrified that the second key is going to break and I will be stuffed, as a bonus the drivers door key barrel seems to be seized, so I can't lock or unlock the car should the event happen again, lots of wd40 and still no movement. Much annoyance at the moment.

Thanks again.

No worries mate, sorry I couldn't have been of more assistance.

You should be able to order a key but I've no idea how much the'll try and sting you for as it will need coding etc

Are you having to make it up to all parties now ?

yours has the M30 sigma ! remote built into key & one button

You have a transponder chip built in to key as well as the remote board for the alarm.

Transponder works with engine ecu & is completely seperate to the M30 Sigma alarm.

Transponder works by proximity of key to receiver on steering column. this could be the issue if actual alarm push button fob appears to work.

Any decent locksmith specialising in cars can program transponder chips & either supply with new key or try graft new chip in your old key.

If the fob is faulty try pick up a spare one same type (built into key) from a breakers or eBay then swap the board to your key & program the new fob.

what you also want do is take the opportunity to program a new 4 pin digit security code such as your birthday so you never forget it, this can be done easily while have a working remote so would suggest doing that ASAP, link below to help >

Ok, so I think I have programmed a new code in.

Lock, unlock, *17856*92*new code* new code# lock unlock with key fob

But I have no way of knowing if it works, as I can't unlock with the key.

Hopefully I can pick up another fob and code it back in.

Thanks for all the help.

Just unlock with fob, wait for the 30 second immobilizer cuts in so when turn ignition key you need press alarm button again but don't press alarm button, use your pin code .

You could also sit in car arm alarm wait 30 seconds then open the door so alarm start screaming then try you pin code to turn it off ;-)

Out of interest is the other key fob turning alarm on or off or is it 100% dead when pressing the button ?

Hi Mr B

100% dead, nothing happening when you push the button. Changed the Battery but no change, very strange as it worked moments before, then nothing.

Hmm, I tried waiting, but when I start typing the code the little LED on tge keypad flashes multiple times, as if it's wrong. Do you just type the 4 digits, or do you need hit * or # beforehand?

I'll try out locking the doors then opening them tomorrow, dont fancy waking up the neighbours.

Thanks again.

Should just enter 4 digits, be sure the immobilizer has cut in by trying turn key, ignition key would also need be in the ign position.

Sounds like Fob gone bad on your original key then, you could try reprogramming it to the alarm with its new Battery if that no go then try find one on eBay or breakers & swap fob board to your key housing & reprogram it to alarm. price from Subaru is shocking, even the fobs that hang on key ring can work (be programmed) if can't find the built in keyfob easily.
