seanaldo1987
Hi all...... was just wondering what aftermarket exhaust systems you are running on your imprezas and if you have just went cat back or full decat. i've still got the standard system with the prodrive 2nd cat delete and backbox fitted. i like the more subtle looks of the prodrive tip so was wondering if there are any aftermarket versions that run a smaller tip on the backbox?? Jay762
Have a prodrive backbox fitted as part of the PPP dealer install but I know the system will have to be replaced probably next year as a check under the car has show corrosion but teh SS back box is fine. I will probably go for a Milltek as the exhausts are the same size and I like the sound. The H&S doesnt look too big on this picture http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=24_53 The track friendly cobras are not to large either http://www.cobrasport.com/exhaust/Subaru/Impreza+Turbo+WRX+and+STI+%2801-07%29/31/0/0
Miggs
i have a few engine throttle bodies knocking about the garage and i'm thinking of getting my mate to fabricate me one of these for my exhaust http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QTP-QTEC25-2-25-2-5-Electric-Exhaust-Cutout-Valve-/400508389601?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d402908e1 i don't need to stop flow altogether or divert down another none baffled pipe just let some noise through instead of all, it'd also make motorways more bearable
Fuggzy
Had that idea myself !! You can buy ready made manual versions from ratsport.co.uk for next to nothing. And comes with a fitting kit too. And you can also buy an electric version from the same place, again with all the fittings needed. I actually spoke to longlife exhausts in Bristol and they were happy to knock me up a full turbo back custom system with a electric valve in with a normal exhaust on one side on the valve and on the other side a sweet side exit !! All for £850 inc vat, and that's fitted too http://www.ratsport.com/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=9611818. Manual one http://www.ratsport.com/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=9611815. Electric one. Would be epic !! Miggs
My thoughts are, a throttle body has a spring to keep it open, if I had a cable attached like in link one I could pull the cable and somehow lock it out so it stays closed when I need it too, going past horses on the road is nightmare for me at the moment, 2mph in fifth to idle past lol
Fuggzy
Sounds like a plan, on ratsport they have the Y pipe you'd need to be able to split the flow. So you wouldn't have to buy the entire kit
Miggs
I wasn't splitting the flow I was gonna shave a couple of mm off the butterfly so the gas can get round, just not all of it
Fuggzy
Oh I see, sorry I misunderstood. You mean kinda like an adjustable baffle. Sounds cool, would it restrict the flow?? Also what did you think of the exhaust diverted valve I mentioned?? Like the ones on the links I posted
Miggs
i've seen the diverters used on a few cars, theres an M5 on the net somewhere with one and it's a good tool to have, gets you past the mot regs of emmisions and noise and also if you track the car theres the added bonus of getting past noise regs but then being able to release the extra gas for more power my idea will restrict flow but it's only going to be used for warming up in the mornings so i don't anoy the neighbours and for motorway use so i can hear things when i get to my destination, it will restrict the flow only as much as a baffle insert would and wouldn't be used at times of hard acceleration, but as it's easily opened from in the car the option to open when needed means no need to get out the car and remove the baffle fromt the rear box

Jay762
I know Perth based RA developments have chosen Cobra as their development partner for the BRZ GT*^ project they are working on so I dont think you will be dissappointed
ioa1980
I used to have a Fujisubo super legalis r exhaust; a lovely sound, understated when at low revs, but came alive at higher revs.
