Hi all,

Since I have had my scoob Its always had a strange judder when pulling off and gearing down,

I just took it to a blokes house who is pretty sure its the gearbox

Does anyone know anywhere near Staffordshire that can rebuild my box or buy a used/recon one for pretty cheap??

Thanks in advance !  :(

Sure it's not the clutch ? Sounds a bit odd for the box to judder, maybe worth dropping the oil and seeing what state it's in before pulling the box.

it could be the clutch, have you got any receipts for a replacement?

if you needed a new one, would you want the best place or the cheapest? it won't be the same place lol

Thanks for the help guys,

I'm going to try take it into ScoobyClinic sat to have another opinion,

I would just want cheapest place to be honest, as long as it's drive able in heavy traffic (to and from work)

the clinic is a good choice

the cheap option isn't always the best way. it might cost you £500 for it 'repaired' and fail again in 6 months, or just pay, say £800 and have it sorted properly. a bloke was advertising on eBay offering gear box rebuilds for £400. guess how much abuse he got from people that know you can't do a rebuilt for £400

a 'specialist' local to me does cheap work on cars, but most of them end up in scoobyclinic 3 months later being sorted properly. who needs to buy proper gaskets when you can buy silicone from poundland........

Yea you have a good point, the car is pretty hard to live with at the min tho and won't have cash to fix it for few months, hopefully clinic will say the box is OK!

I still reckon it's the clutch, i'd even go with a paddle clutch that's been installed, is it ok during normal up shifts ?

Shudders up and down all the gears, the car is virtually stock too, but it has done 140k

Gears for me I was going to get one from them for £650 reconditioned. But by chance they didn't pick up the phone. So spoke to Martin he's sorted me out now :D

But does sound more like Clutch or oil related. Gearbox would give you trouble getting gears even noise from it when moving if it's broken a bit off and gone in the diff.

Good news!

Went to Clinic yesterday (great bunch of lads),

One of the mechs went out in my car to see what he thought, came back and said he thinks clutch isnt aligned properly, not the gearbox!

Was quite funny tho as he also told me I wasn't using V Power fuel (which I wasn't), apparently he said it didn't smell and sound right at high RPM and I should always use V power! haha

So its not booked in for next Sat for Clutch (recon fly if needed) and both front callipers replaced with refurbs as seized piston!

Really happy with the outcome!

Also an excellent drive from my house to Clinic as it takes me over Buxton and Bakewell!

yep, you should always use 99 ron fuel, either v-power nitro or tesco momentum. you wouldn't buy a thoroughbred race horse and then just feed it on tesco value horse food would you ;)

the clinic are a good bunch of lads, how many big tuners would let you walk around their workshops?

Yea I'm pretty happy with the outcome, can't wait for it to be fixed Sat!

Also, they showed me a brand new black Scoob project that they were working on, should be good for 600bhp once finished! looked bad ****!
