Ijimman Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Howdy chaps I have a 10 hatch WRX-S WITH 55k on clock She has just had a HKS BOV and a cobra sport de cat exhaust fitted. She now revs occasionally between gear changes and idle is a little erratic. She also at one point suddenly cut my power steering and power mid steer when I pushed her a bit harder Any help appreciated chaps cheers
stants Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Have you had it mapped for the changes ? May be that the various sensors are being confused by the metered air & pressure not being there, 1
Sandals Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Maybe your IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) needs a clean... i know mine does as sometimes my revs jump between gear changes, my replacement gasket for it as arrived just haven't got around to doing it yet!! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=781242
Ijimman Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 Not had it mapped yet. The parts have shifted the power band up the Rev range more than I would like so definitely needs a map. Anybody recommend a good place? I'll give the clean of the sensor a go as well Cheers
stants Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Dunc at @ race dynamix is fairly close to you a load of us have used him here, drop him a mail and see what he comes back with
Scoobyghost Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 The cut mid corner could be fuel surge. If I have 1/4 tank or less and try to power out of a long corner it'll bog down. I'm on a classic so not sure if they redesigned the tank and pump by the time it gets to your model. The decat could allow over boost which may cause boost cut as the sensors won't like that. Agree with what's been said it needs a map now to bring all the mods together and get it all under control.
Ijimman Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 Dropped him an email so hopefully he comes back to me ASAP. Cheers for the help guys will update once sorted
Ijimman Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 She is going on for a remap on Friday morning with Duncan. Noticed my power steering fluid is low so wondering if the cut out during cornering may have been from sucking air due to fluid sloshed to one side. The revs as well may be from the BOV being too tightly spung. That being said the HKS I have is not adjustable. Will update again once the map is done gents with results
Sandals Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I doubt it's your BOV... My revs have been jumping between gears with both the standard recirc valve and my GFB blow off valve (regardless of spring adjustment) 1
Sandals Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Another member has said this in another thread: "Also have a look at the butterfly which the throttle cable goes to, mine was sticking and causing it to rev between gears and sometimes on idle. Simple WD spray and a clean up. Mystery_Machine your car looks outstanding." http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/15979-revs-increase-when-changing-gear/
Ryan85 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 As sandals sed mine does it with standard recirc and did it with my bov before and after map my brothers 3 mps does same

Ijimman Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 On a side note I'm gonna try a clean of the IACV. Does anyone know the gasket part no for a 2010 hatch WRX-S?
Ijimman Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 Update. The car has had a map. Minor bhp increase of around 15. Big Torque increase of around 70 pound feet. Still rev issue though between gear changes. Will check the throttle catch cable next
Sandals Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 That's a nice torque increase!! I still haven't had a chance to clean my IACV... weather has been too miserable the past week!
Ryan85 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Like mine that managed 230 bhp at wheels but got 311 lb ft after map Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Ijimman Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 270 at wheels with partial decat, filter, BOV. To update tho she may have over boosted yesterday. Trying to identify today if that's the case
