quit
to get a sport to pop and bang you need different headers
Mark D
Hi it's my friends car, when she got it the previous owner changed exhaust from cat back, it does a little rumble when lifting off the accelerator, but there is a leak in the exhaust at the moment. It was quite loud when she got it, guy at a Subaru breakers had a pro sport back box that made it quieter which is what is on at the moment, but had to cut a bit off it to make it fit as got different mid pipe. compared to my legacy (don't know how similar the exhausts are) it looks like the mid pipe is missing the resonator box
Mark D
By the way that's a nice looking special :) don't know if it's the camera but it makes my friends one look faded. Does yours have this really annoying rev hang when cold, where when accelerating and letting off the throttle (doesn't matter how quickly you let off) it will stay at the same revs, then after 2 secs will slowly... Slowly drop down? I've read up about similar complaints but think they were when engine warm? only way to make it drop slightly quicker is to take out of gear, de-clutch in neutral, to slow engine speed slightly, then clutch and stick into gear :S
charleseaton1
No i dont get any problems with it, all does as it should. Its been very well looked after in all fairness to previous owners. Only issue i had with it was the siezed slide and guide pins on the brakes but other than that all good. @mattwhat headers would make a difference can you point me in the right direction thanks
quit
The turbos use unequal length headers to give it that Scoob burble , the sport just uses normal I think
Mark D
Just a thought, when you say pop and bang, are you talking about the huge bang when changing gear like the rally cars? If so that's anti lag used to keep the turbo spinning when the boost would drop. if not, then sorry was just a thought when driving back home :)
charleseaton1
No not antilag just the general scooby sound. Mine dont get me wrong sounds good, but it dont barble like other scoobies do even when idling.
savage bulldogs
As Matt said it's the unequal length Headers that cause the scooby burble . There are a few companies that make unequal headers for na scoobs but they're fairly expensive, so you'd probably be better off looking for a second hand set . If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
charleseaton1
Would the unequal headers off a turbo classic fit a none turbo classic
savage bulldogs
Not without a fair bit of modification as the turbo exhaust manifold, upipe and downpipe takes a different route compared to the na versions. Have a search on here as there's a thread "somewhere" on here that has pics of the header differences. If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
