tall_tog Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Hi finally got new lambda sensor and got fault codes cleared 60 miles down the road CEL came on again. front offside wheel bearing is noisy,. Would this trip an ABS fault code ? if not anything else obvious to check? thank you
savage bulldogs Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Unsure what year your outback is or if they run the same type of abs but on some classics the use a abs "ring" . The abs rings do tend to get brittle and crack , mine fell apart when changing a wheel bearing. So if they do run the same abs system it could well be the abs ring that's broken giving you the noise and code . 1
tall_tog Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Forgot to say it's a 2005 i had all codes cleared when they diagnosed lambda sensor and when checked after new sensor fitted there was an abs code there
savage bulldogs Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I'm unsure if any year outback has a abs ring ,as I've only ever owned classics but it might be worth checking out. If you need to get the wheel bearing done they'll soon see if the abs ring is fubar too .
Greenmamba Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 There is a magnetic tone ring built into the wheel bearing on that model of OB. Replace with a good (OEM, SKF, Timken, etc). Would solve the noise, probably will clear the abs code if it is the cause. 1
