Hi all,

Im in the market for my first Scooby and wondering what the concensios is on the V3 or V4 STI Sedan vs the Type R (Max 1997)

Are they that much different from the sedan and are they worth the extra.

A Sti salon for 2.5 to 3k

Where would be the best place to look for one. Was looking on Gumtree and ebay do far. 

Yeah best bet , they come up just gotta find a good one 

2-3k sti is gonna be a bit rough round the edges, similar with a type r at 6k

all the ones i've seen around that price bracket never seem to be that good, either paint is tired with rust or mechanicals arn't 100% etc

typical of these tho isnt it! i wouldn't spend more than 3 tho on a half decent one if you can find one!!!!!

i nearly got a black saloon last year a v3, but after some research turned out to be a bit ... well..... crap!

I looked at a STI on Sunday and the price was cheap 2,300 Euro but god was it rough.

I didn't even bother to drive it as with the rust and the bodging of wires in the engine bay I has seen enough. I kinda knew before I looked at it. Only had 2 MOT in since 2006.

Why is the V1/2 the most desirable, the V6 I have to discount as would be too new. has to be over 20 years for classic ins.

First ones ! People want original / first gen 

 

i think some classic insurers are not insuring them on policies anymore 

Which version did Gen 2 kick In? 

Must check the insurance suitation again, thanks for reminding me. I did hear that some insurance companies where not covering one less than 20year old

Just need to save the money now.
