Got a bone stock 98 Impreza L

Yeah, so like the title says, I recently purchased a 98 impreza L and it's in pretty pristine condition. I'd like to safely add some power to that 2.2L boxer, but I'm not sure which route to take. Any suggestions? It's a naturally aspirated, bone stock engine.

There's not a great deal you can do without chucking a load of money at a n/a scoob to gain more power, I'd go down the weight reduction and handling upgrades 1st, maybe a bigger brake set up to enable you to carry more speed with confidence.

Not entirely sure but does yours have a rear sway/arb attached?

If not a decent bar and droplinks will make the world of difference

Wotcha and welcome, freer flowing exhaust and a panel filter is the most cost effective but wont give huge gains, as above power to weight ratio and chassis improvements are a better investment
