2002 wrx exhaust mine field

Can someone help me through the exhaust mine field I have a 2002 wrx wagon I have a standard exhaust which I want to change for a stainless steel with a larger bore but I don't want to keep putting the cat back any advice/recommendations many thanks

Get a cat back exhaust an leave the original cat in place
