I recently gave my car for CAM Belt change at JEM Subaru . The person there insisted i couldnt wait there as it would be a long time for the job to be done. Has anyone else had this done to them? I have o get AA now to check if the job was actually done.

I would say it takes a while so I would not wait .

You don't need the AA to check the belt. You can pop the cam cover off. If you had tensioner and pulleys changed though you will need a better inspection. You could ask to see invoices but some places are stingy showing those.
