OriginaLz
I recently bought a WRX SL 2.5 UK Spec on auction. It has been swapped with a EJ20 motor, not sure what one (guessing it's the 205). I have a a few sensors and wires that are not connected and would appreciate it if you guys could help me out. This is the first connector that I don't know what it was/should be used for. It is located by the Battery. This is another sensor that is located towards the front of the engine by the oil cap. I also have this weird contraption just above their air filter, I have no clue what it is. And the final plug is this pink one. And I have a picture of the engine if that helps. stuartie
Not sure about all the plugs but that thing by the airbox looks like a 2port boost solenoid and i don't think it should be held on with a cable tie lol it should bolt on to a bracket around that area 👍

What is the point of a boost solenoid?
stuartie
I think but not sure, it controls the pressure going to the wastegate on the turbo
savage bulldogs
Yep boost solenoid controls the boost via vaccum lines attached to the turbo outlet ,wastegate and inlet/intake . The plug by the Battery looks like a classic (pre 2000) icv (idle control valve ) ive never worked on anything but classics so unsure if it needs to be plugged in on yours . The sensor by the oil filler is a classic cam position sensor . If not plugged in on a classic it won't start or will go into limp mode if faulty . No idea what the pink plug is for im afraid . If the engine loom is newage (2000 onwards) the plug by the Battery might be for a newage cam sensor ? Does it run ? P.s had a second look at the plug by the Battery and it could be aircon plug ? Maybe 1 of the newage boys would know for sure

I doubt it's the air con plug since the air con works flawlessly.
