IanR
My 2016 XV has just had a cracked windscreen replaced by Autoglass. The car alarm will no longer arm - it goes into alarm mode. The guy that did the replacement was very concerned and even went to the trouble of removing the scuttle to show me all the wiring - all looked fine with no obvious damage. I can now only key lock the car. Have booked into local Subaru agent and hope to have fault sorted, Autoglass are waiting for the result of what might be found. I have heard that the alarm system might just need re-setting via the under dash key pad - any body else has same issue and know how to fix? Hope yours is sorted by then. They are useless, we’ve had nothing but trouble with them. Wrong windscreens, putting the wrong pad, breaking the sensor, causing the sensor computer to through a wobbly, ended up going to a subaru main dealer who had to buy a specialist cabe to reset the computer and calibrate the sensor and get a subaru tech out from London and no time idea how much that cost ? just had 2 failed attempts to replace our windscreen and finally got it done on Monday, now got to sort out compensation for me wasting 2 morninfs waiting in for them. ernieb
Glad you finally got it sorted and hope you manage to get some costs. i think some of the problems for these windscreen replacement company’s is the technology attached to the glass or immediately behind it, every car is different. I’ve been warned with the XV and the cameras behind the glass to be absolutely paranoid about keeping any crap off the lenses as currently any issue would need then shipped to Japan for recalibration. Seems extreme but the dealer confirmed that they have had to do it when an owner sprayed cleaner inside the glass and coated the lenses causes marks when they tried to clean then. With mine they supplied caps to be fitted when any cleaning of the glass was necessary. Back to your point, I have little doubt that many windscreen companies would have no idea about the consequences on these cameras. (BTW, the system works really well and I’m very impressed so far.) Rizmo
Screen finally fitted, and bought new Wiper Blades, so back for MOT retest tomorrow. Everything seems to work OK, but need some rain to test the auto wipers 😓

IanR
Turned out to be an issue with the bonnet detector switch, the guy replacing the screen had accidentally knocked it slightly. Security system detected open bonnet and wouldn't arm. Easy fix once problem identified by a computer check.
