neil wilson
my 2006 3 litre outback (my third since 2004, all secondhand) has done 115,000 miles and going well BUT exhaust blowing to rear of where pipes from both sides of engine join into one. Our very good local garage showed me on its ramps the flange that's corroded where it blows -- not loudly yet! - and said part needed includes the nearside Cat converter. Seems a shame (and cost! about £1000) to replace the Cat which works OK. Any way round this? Anyone experience of buying necessary parts cheaper ie not from main dealer etc? Greenmamba
Got photos? Maybe a good welder could install a new flange on the old cat pipe end? Gerlach (via eBay) make reasonable exhausts at low price but I don't know if they do cats.
