Help Needed About Catalytic Converter

Hi. I’m looking for some help or advice. I have a 04 Impreza WRX blobeye wagon with 78,000 miles. The engine management light has come on, & the local dealer says it’s the catalytic converter code. To turn it off for the MOT next month (it comes straight back on if turned off) it’ll cost £3000, they say. This is because the car still has the original exhaust that comes in one piece, & the replacement cat comes in two pieces, & the new part can’t be fitted to the original exhaust because there’s no join. What are my options? Has anyone come across this before? The car only ever gets long runs as I use it for a 140 mile commute two to three times a week on the motorway. Thanks in advance for any advice

my 2p I would replace the exhaust with a turbo back stainless steel option, include a sports cat and have a system that will last you for as long as you have the car.

I have purchased cobra systems for x3 different cars now, never been disappointed.

apparently the quality of cobra stuff has dropped right off recently as they have started mass producing it rather than hand made

yeah, was looking at going for a cobra 3 inch system but then was advised against it, h & S worked out about £50 more overall so its not a big cost increase

That's still reasonable with H&S also having a good reputation
