Jay762 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Just read a piece in the March issue of Japanese Performance car magazine which has details a buying and modification guide for the 2008 - 2011 WRX STI - ill pull the main points together in another thread - in the meantime though there was one thing they stated that rang a couple of bells '...there seems to be issues with the standard ECU maps, including the PPP upgrade versions...' This conflicts with information I received from Subaru themselves regarding the dealer supplied PPP models and as such was stated by me in a previous thread discussing this subject. I dont know where JP mag gets its info but given this I will, from now on, be recommending a remap by the likes of JGM and Andy Forrest etc - not necessarily to get more power but to sort the fuelling parameters at higher revs which result in engine failure.
Scooby Pete Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 good info thanks Jay. Im gonna grab a copy on my way home.
Jay762 Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Cover car is a classic beast from RA Developments got a peach of a sequential box in it
Scooby Pete Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Yeah just read that, for a quick tart up £100k+ isn't a bad budget :) The hatch article was a bit disappointing.
Jay762 Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 its a conglomerate of what is out there on the web - I have all the info they stated from different suppliers as bookmarks on my mac, all the photos are from the feature car of the chap who works for Cosworth 's mule Subaru. It would be interesting to actually speak to the author and see who his sources were
Gambit Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I might see if I can get an online version for the Ipad and have a read :)
Gambit Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Well I stood in Tesco and had a read of the hole Magazine just about :) Had to laugh at the Useful links. some of the sites that got picked made me chuckle. Useful if you want people taking the P out of you, or generally just having your car slagged off
Jay762 Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 yup just reinforces that I dont think a wide enough piece of research was completed
